The vibe in the casino by the time Thursday rolled around was pretty much normal for a Thursday in October, except that everyone was wearing masks (and overall I'd say compliance was pretty good at Cosmo). The majority of people are actually wearing masks outside as well - which is not something I've done at home (mostly because it's a small town and there's not that many people).

If you believe that the virus spreads easily and you really don't want to get it, then you'd probably not feel safe there at the moment. There are simply way too many people inside the casino for the rules to be enforced and while people are more-or-less 6 feet apart it still feels cramped when there's a big room with that many people in it - if you're walking around at all you're almost assured to come into momentary close contact with others.

I lean more on the side of what is unsafe are prolonged periods of close contact and at no point in the trip did I put myself in that situation. But very brief moments of being closer than 6 feet with another human - yes that definitely happened. Once in an elevator where the other person wasn't masked.

But then again, I was there by myself and intentionally avoided interacting with other people. If you're going there as a group intending to do everything as a group, that's going to be a little more difficult (but not impossible). The bigger the group, the harder it would be. And in my personal opinion, going as a group of more than 4 people and trying to do things as a group would not be safe. But that just means I wouldn't do it myself - if you think that's a safe thing to do I'm not holding that against anyone. I even saw a group of about 30 people walking outside down the strip (matching t-shirts) and most of them weren't wearing a mask (outside) - I don't judge them, I just avoid them.

I didn't dine in any of the restaurants but they did look pretty busy. And inside the restaurant would be the situation where people are not wearing masks for longer periods of time so since fine dining alone isn't on my to-do list I would have made the assessment of that situation not being worth the risk. But if my wife was there, we probably would have dined since the benefit of the experience would likely outweigh the risk.

Oh, one other thing I noticed yesterday (Friday) when departing from McCarron. The volume of people leaving on a Friday was definitely reasonable (although way, way busier than Toronto). For the tram ride to the other terminal at McCarron, when it arrived to the station with people just arriving into Vegas, it was PACKED with people. Not so with the people departing - maybe 10-15 people per car. I thought maybe it was just that one but the other tram arrived just as we were leaving and it was also packed. And when our tram got to the other terminal, there were hundreds of people waiting to get on.

I'm glad I got out of there when I did. I'm personally not ready for that level of risk.

The amazing thing about Trip Reports is the ability to re-live things. I'm just noticing in the picture above that there's some possible handy-work happening that I didn't see before.

What a great TR! For some reason YouTube will only allow me to watch some of the slot play videos. Annoying. I was really hoping there was a 3 wheel Wonka bonus play in here somewhere! Lol I was hoping to go to Vegas this week but unfortunately had to push it back til next month or December. Happy Belated Birthday!

Believe me - I've been scheming about a way to connect through Calgary but somehow I would anticipate that this is available to Alberta residents only. But I'd rather stay 7 days in Calgary (waiting for the 2nd test) than spend the full 14 days in quarantine. If that's an option :)

Funny enough I don't think I was in view of the track at any point, so I don't know for sure. But I don't think so.
