My prefer is DD pitch with favorable rules. I used to play a lot of BJ, but now just with friends and family, so it's lower min tables. I play mostly at GVR and Sunset Station because of the "good" rules for low mins. I was at SLS a while back and they also dealt a good lower min game.

When I used to play higher min( $100) DD pitch @ Mirage was my favorite. Great dealers and pit crew. I just googled to see if I could find current info and found this:

    Aria, Mirage and Bellagio
offer the same games as SLS Las Vegas for $25. For $50, these casinos offer the same rules where the dealer stands on all 17’s. A $100 minimum will get a double deck pitch game at these MGM Resorts casinos where players can double down after splitting and the dealer stands on all 17’s.

Unfortunately, I'm hooked on VP. (I really don't want to be lol) I have gambled for years and I will say this: I am positive that I won more (or lost less:) at BJ than VP. I always think I will play more BJ, but it doesn't happen. Reading this makes me determined now to "just do it" ! Thanks for posting.

I agree with you, VM, that if you're in a hot shoe, there's a benefit to those add'l decks.

I usually play DD...but I think I have better luck with a six deck shoe.

What I've found quite interesting lately is that many of the strip properties have same special BJ limits for shoe and DD. Just a few years a go, I was sure that this was not the case, however lately I've found that the Cosmo, MGM properties, and Wynn both allow same limits on both....can someone verify or refute this?

Had not really thought about it before reading this post, but I think this is correct. Cosmo high limit this past week had the same minimums on DD and the shoe game. Wynn does not have a DD game in the high limit, although the Encore minimum is almost always less than the Wynn minimum on the shoe game.

I know CET has lower limits on DD game than the 6 deck shoe at PHO and some others, but at Cosmo, MGM and Wynn the 10k max was the same on both 6 deck and DD.

I prefer almost any 3:2 DD to a 6 or 8 deck shoe game. No, I don't get S17, but the El-Co, Plaza & Golden Gate still offer a DD shoe game with about 2/3 penetration & DAS permitted. Minimums range from $5 to $25.
Gold Coast & Orleans offer $5 & $10 2-deck pitch, H17 with DAS - but they do cut away about half...still - a good game for low limits.
If I'm only going to flat-bet and play basic strategy, then I like shoe games that are S17, with DAS, RSA & LS... otherwise, I like the CSMs and their perpetual ~zero~ count.

PS - I'll even play the "no DAS" DD pitch games at MSS, Cal, Fremont & DTG before I play downtown shoes.

I'm a DD guy. Have never had a big loss on it, seem to get frequent wins. Can kinda count a little bit more easily on it. Granted the rules have to be decent. I don't care if it is pitch or face up, pitch is fun but face up allows for more time for counting.

I used to count back in the 70s and 80s when they had good rules on single and double deck games.
Now just play shoes with better rules

I can't imagine the table max on that game is very high.

I think 6-deck shoes with really deep penetration are the way to go. Most of the Double-Deck here in Colorado only afford us 50% deck penetration at best, and it's kind of a crapshoot at that point. I feel like my odds are much better when paying attention to a larger shoe but knowing that I'll see most of the cards instead of merely half.

I remember, decades ago, when 4-deck shoes were prevalent. They were all 3:2, S17, DAS permitted... and they would cut away about 1-deck.
Those were 'countable', low-limit games... and were a lot of fun! I think they also allowed surrender, but I don't recall for sure, as I never used it back then, (yes, I was naive & cocky...and often foolish!)
