Now, more than ever, and in these uncertain times…ok, I’ll can the pandemic cliches.

The Vegas itch has definitely been nagging over the last few months, especially since I had to cancel my trip scheduled for May. As we’ve discussed elsewhere, everyone has their own comfort level when it comes to considering travel right now. Although I was leery about visiting Vegas back in July and early August, many of the statistics in Nevada seem to be at least trending in the right direction, and I feel more comfortable visiting now than I would have a month or two ago. I wanted to avoid the holiday weekend crowd, so I decided to wait until after Labor Day and will be flying out on Wednesday.

As usual, I’ll be staying at Cosmo, combining a 3 night comp offer with 2 Identity tier comp nights, plus an extra weeknight that I'll probably end up covering with Identity points. Earlier in the year before COVID broke out, I was hoping to plan a trip in September with family and friends for my 40th birthday, but with many people understandably leery about traveling now, I nixed that plan many months ago. So, I’ll be heading home a few days before my birthday and will be able to celebrate with friends and family back home. I do have family living in Vegas, and we’ll be meeting up frequently and spending plenty of time together on the strip.

Not that I’ve ever needed much of an incentive to visit Vegas, but I was incredibly lucky in Cosmo’s weekly online VP tournaments, and somehow I managed to finish in first place twice and ended up with a total of $800 in free play, valid through the end of the year. I’ve never dealt with anywhere near this much free play, so I’m debating how to allocate it. Take a flyer on some HL slots or VP? Play through it all in a single Double Super Times or Ultimate X session? Maybe a bit of both? We’ll see. I know a lot of people tend to “convert” free play in a single session, so I’m curious about how others have handled similar free play offers and am open to suggestions!

The Nevada COVID Task Force didn’t authorize the reopening of bars in Clark county during their meeting this past Thursday, so unfortunately bartop VP at Chandelier and the Sports Bar likely won’t be an option this trip. Considering the amount of time I spend at Chandelier during a typical trip, it’s definitely going to be different this time with no drink tickets, comped premium cocktails, or enjoying the atmosphere at Chandelier while playing VP, but I’ll try to make the best of it. I’m going in with pretty low expectations overall, but hopefully I’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Anyway, enough of my banter. Can’t wait to get to Vegas and explore the new normal and share it in my TR, because we’re all in this together! Sorry, I couldn't resist. No more cliches...I promise!

    Is it Wednesday yet? :)

I generally have around 2k in free play when I go. I save it until the end of the trip, then cash it out doing $0.50 10 line job on the hundred play machine. Generally, I get 100% plus out. Only one time did I get less. Then I choose whether I want to play it back or not.

I forgot to mention, since i cash out my free play on the full pay job, that’s also probably why I rarely get invited to the slot tournaments. I would cash out those wins.

Always good to be lucky. The "come out ahead" rate at 9/6 JoB in your scenario is certainly lower than 50%, and likely closer to 40%.

Good luck! Congrats on the free play wins! I couldn’t break the top 100 in any of those games! But I did win $50 resort credit in the match game! Me and my husband get in on the 14th! I look forward to reading your experience! And pics! Any pics!

Very excited to follow along! I hope you have a safe and exciting trip trip filled with jackpots and prosperous free play conversion! Also, I have a hunch that you will still find a way to keep the premium cocktails flowing...! Cheers!!!

Thanks for all of the well-wishes!

Will do! I think he has been working at the HL bar recently, so hopefully I'll have an opportunity to chat with him and will be sure to send greetings from the VF crew!

Thanks, @Foofighter! No visit to Cosmo is complete without a few Verbenas and specialty cocktails from Chandelier, so I'm sure I'll still enjoy a few, even if I end up having to walk up and pay for them. Paying for a cocktail at Chandelier?! It just doesn't sound right :)

Lets get this show on the road!

This is my first time at the airport since February, and it’s amazing how slow it is. Probably about half of the restaurants and stores are closed. I guess it’s to be expected l, but it’s a little eerie nonetheless.

On a side note, has anyone run into photo limit issues with Tapatalk recently? I’m using the app now and selected the “VIP” option, so we’ll see how it holds up. If nothing else, posting through Safari is always an option.

Wish I could be there with you this trip! Drop the hammer on the Nevada brass about getting Chandelier and the Sports Book up and running again.

I’d love to! Being the Vegas nerd that I am, I actually dialed in and listened to the Nevada COVID Task Force meeting last Thursday to see if they would budge on the bar restrictions for Clark county, but no such luck. They’re meeting again tomorrow morning and I’m not too optimistic, but you never know.

In the meantime, I was going through my Vegas odds and ends before my flight this morning, and I found these leftovers from my February trip. What’s the over/under on Chandelier accepting these, given the current circumstances? :)

I’m not sure how this works, but I’d like to call the OVER that these will work and you’ll have many espresso martinis in the best spot in town. (After you check in and get seated at a safe and appropriate social distance. Friendly reminder you can’t just stroll up to Chandelier. Have to check in at “entrance”.)

Please use all six and post pics of the before, during and after.
