Wife and I are heading to LV Sep 12-18 for an anniversary trip with a "theme" of trying new things. We've been to Vegas as a couple about 15 times so not complete rookies but there's still lots of new things to explore. Haven't been downtown in 3+ years.

Saturday, September 15 we are doing a bit of a tourist day downtown of things we've never done before. Rough plan is:

3:00pm - Mob Museum for a couple hours
    5:30pm - Dinner somewhere
    7:00pm - Neon Museum
9:30pm - Slotzilla (hopefully during the 10pm FSE show)

We're staying on the strip so we do need to get there and back at some point, but the rest of the day is fairly flexible if there are other worthwhile things to do downtown.

For dinner is where I'm really hoping for suggestions. We've done Hugo's Cellar (meh), Vic & Anthony's (good), and the GN buffet way way back (bah), so should be lots of options for new things.

Lots of physical activities on the list of things to do, not the least of which the zipline, so dinner at a somewhat casual, somewhat traditional "american" food place, is preferred. Had been looking at Seigal's 1941 at ElCo as an option given the wide variety on the menu.

Also if there's anything else activity-wise that we should do, or place-wise that we should check out, we are all ears! Gambling probably isn't real high on the list of things to do downtown but if there is idle time it would be good to know the best place to sit down for a bit.

If you want to sit and have a brew, try Banger Brewery, it's up near the front by Neonopolis. For food, Mrs. P and I love the Smashed Pig on Fremont East, just outside the overhang, or, if you're going to be at the Mob Museum there's always Pizza Rock.

Container Park is a decent stop, Ern's BBQ there gets good reviews, Bin 702 is a solid wine bar and Oak & Ivy is one of my favorite stops to grab a cocktail.

For cheap food: The BBQ Project food truck is supposed to be really good, as is American Coney Island at the D. The Binion's Cafe is OK, but their hangover burger is a pretty good bargain and tasty. The Whiskey Liquor bar there is solid as well.

Fremont East is full of good bars, the Commonwealth, the Laundry Room, Downtown Cocktail room. If you don't mind a little walk Atomic Liquors is only a couple of blocks away.

I've found the best way to get to/from the Strip and Fremont is Uber/Lyft. Don't take the "Duece" bus if you're think about public transportation, take the "Express" bus instead. It will save you about 30 minutes.

Plenty of things to do Downtown besides gambling. Have fun!!

Andiamo is great. I will go again next trip. In the top three of steaks (out of about 30 places) in LV.

Andiamo's sound familiar, almost too familiar like maybe we've done it before. Has it always been at the D? I'm pretty sure we've never eaten at the D or whatever it used to be though.

You could check out Container Park, stop at Oak and Ivy whiskey bar for a cocktail.

    (3) excellent places to eat, outside of the casinos:

    Carson Kitchen
    Eureka
    Smashed Pig

All of them are small and popular, so I would make a reservation if interested.

Oak & Ivy in the container park is a must for me when I'm downtown. The cocktails are fab & the bar staff are so friendly. For dinner I really liked Oscars @ the Plaza.

Have you ever been to Detroit? The original Andiamo is there. Same owners. Could that be it?

Been to Detroit many, many times. Haven't really eaten there though. Actually, what I meant to say is that I've been *through* Detroit many, many times :)
