Bet they were sweating a little in the first half of the SEC Championship game.

I'm kidding of course, this is a good PR move by a new bookmaker who's taken some PR hits since starting operations.

Yes, there is a lot of competition now in Jersey with the apps. In my opinion, FanDuel is the best and its not even close as far as user friendly app, ease of pay, overall odds and in game odds/options.

This is just my personal opinion here, but I don't like this. It's certainly beneficial to those individual bettors who are being paid out early, but the whole point of sports wagering is that it's supposed to reflect the reality of the wins and losses. This payout is absolutely a PR move and while I get how bettors might like it, it raises a whole host of compliance issues.

    We're in 100% agreement here.

What was the criteria for "paying out" other than their analysts had "seen all they need to see"?

Did they see 'Bama struggle against Georgia? Or in the first half against Citadel? Did they see Georgia's offense carve up the 'Bama defense in the SEC Championship signalling that OUs (much better) offense might be able to do the same?

And what of Clemson? If you've watched the Tigers any at all this season surely you would understand, as an "analysts" that the Clemson defensive front-7 is nastier than anything the Tide has faced so far and their offense is clicking under the Freshman Lawrence.

Yes, Bama IS the favorite, and rightly so, based on both past experience and season-long performance, but paying out the bets just seems weird to me. Why do 'Bama bettors have zero risk now why Clemson, OU and Notre Dame bettors have to continue holding that risk into the playoffs? They basically just gave an unfair hedge to anyone who bet Bama heading into the playoffs because they can now make smaller, higher payout, bets on the other side and they've effectively been given a free hedge, a superior position in the market versus other players.

To my mind that's something that shouldn't happen as it skews the market, which as 44inarow stated, seems to place the book in a dodgy spot re: compliance and fair gaming practices.

Agree, it's a pretty unfair PR stunt, and I'm not a fan. But it makes more noise than saying to everyone, "here's a free $X bet because we're nice."
