Great first impressions y'all. I had a feeling it was going to be a madhouse inside a prison riot the first few months it's open. Probably even for the first year. I'm hoping in February to give it a go. Maybe during mid-week it will be less silly and I can get a good look at it.

Everything I've seen on it from people who have visited has been the same: Food is great, the place is a human zoo.

I do think it's going to calm down over the longer-term. I think a lot of the chaos was caused by them deciding to open over probably the busiest single weekend of the year (and with NYE falling on a Monday, I'm sure even more people were in town over that weekend). Rank speculation on my part, but I have a feeling that their priority was being open before NYE come hell or high water, and they probably would have liked to have had more lead time. I'm curious how the grocery aspect is going to do, as well, because a lot of what they're offering (meats, fish, fresh pasta, etc.) are only useful to someone with access to a kitchen.

I'd like to check it out later this month. I've read differing posts. Does anyone know if you can room charge if staying at a Mlife property, but not ParkMGM??

I haven't tried it specifically at Eataly, but I've never gotten a receipt from any MGM restaurant that didn't offer the option to do a room charge to any property in the Vegas portfolio (including Circus Circus, which is not part of Mlife). My interpretation of the various posts is that they were having issues with room charges in general, as opposed to there being a distinction between Park MGM and other properties.

They do offer to cook that fresh meat and fish for $15 plating fee but still not sure how much volume that will do

Especially given the posted pricing. If I'm ordering a $40/pound piece of tuna, and then they're adding a cooking/plating fee, that's pretty pricey. I'd rather spend that kind of money at a real restaurant. It's not like a Jean-Georges or a Prime is charging much more, and has much better ambience than what is essentially a food hall.

Yeah I asked about using points comps and room charges and the cashier said yes but she said they didn’t know how to do it properly. I was able to earn points on my MLife card though.

This is in line with what I've heard.

Basically, they didn't get a chance to do a real soft open like most restaurants do, and instead had to open the floodgates on the busiest weekend of the year. When you add to that the sheer number of cashiers they had to train (remember that unlike a normal restaurant, there are a zillion points of sale at Eataly), I'm not surprised they ran into issues.

Food halls are a trend now.... in people's hometowns. I'm not sure whether or not this transfers to Vegas. Clearly Cosmo and MGM are betting it does.

Oh, no issue with food halls. I think they're great, and the one at Cosmo is an excellent addition. I also don't think there's any problem with Eataly's food hall concept, and wish more places would try it. I just don't see them being able to push steakhouse dishes and prices at a counter service location.
