Great report as always. I agree that MGM has tightened their slots so much that they’re basically unplayable. Fontainebleau is my new go to in Vegas.

I agree with you on the MGM slots. I saw a post on Xitter by Bill Krackmonberger where he somehow took a picture of the "settings" screen from inside a slot machine. He did not say explicitly (probably due to lawsuit concerns) but it was fairly clear the machine was from an MGM casino. The RTP was set at 83.249%.

That's pretty horrible. As an example the MINIMUM that you can set a machine in Louisiana, per State rules, is at 85%. 83% is getting down around unregulated Tribal casino levels, and even they don't often venture that low any more because they understand the need to advertise winners. I've tried to do some research on whether or not the Nevada Gaming Commission has established minimums for slots but have, yet, to find anything published online. One bad thing about Nevada Gaming, they're not very transparent, probably because they haven't had to be.

The sad thing is, rumor has it now that Downtown slots are set tighter than the slots on the Strip. It might have always been this way however, with superior VP tables bringing up the Fremont RTP, but when the Stevens brothers opened Circa it seems that all of the Fremont casinos destroyed their VP pay tables and have probably increased their hold percentages to get in line with the market leader on Fremont.

I would think that the "best" hope for people now is that Tillman Fertitta's company is successful in their attempt to acquire Caesars. Yes, the Golden Nugget has the worst Blackjack in the history of the known World, but their slots are actually pretty fair in my estimation. People have varying opinions about Landry's corporation but they, at the least, have a fairly even standard of quality about them, and they do know how to run Casinos. (Something that cannot be said about El Dorado)

Anyway, congrats on a profitable trip, and (probably more importantly) getting to spend a weekend with your Dad.

You ever stay downtown?
Last year I spent a nite at the D and then 3 at Cosmo. I like DT mostly for the ease of getting around to different casinos. Can probably hit every DT casino in the time it takes to go from Mirage (rip) to Bellagio.

 

I am hoping the hard rock is a much needed improvement.
