I feel kinda dumb for asking this as it seems simple and I feel like I should know, but...

To use your freeplay at Cosmo when you're not staying, do you need to go though your host or can you just go to the Identity desk and get it loaded on your card? Pretty cool they let you use it even without a room booked.

Just go to Identity and they will load it for you

    Hi Guys,

Sorry for dredging up this thread, however I've had an offer with some decent freeplay come through. Do I need to book anything in advance or tell them I'm coming? or can I literally just rock up and say I've had an offer can I use the freeplay? Just curious as I've never done this before.

I assume this is an offer of a comped room with freeplay, but you're asking if you could just use the freeplay?

Pretty sure you need to book the stay to use the freeplay.

You don't need to book a stay, just go to the Identity desk and ask to have the freeplay added to your card. It will void your room and food offer for the rest of the offer period, but it's easy to do, they're clearly used to it at the desk.

I called Cosmo on this last week and @IrishDave and @VegasMonkey are correct. I was told just go to the Identity desk and they load it. No stay required.

Just be aware of the impact to your average play amount per stay if you opt to redeem the identity play and play less than usual—particularly if you only cash out the free play and don’t play beyond that. When you use your card you do register a trip.

I was curious on how they rate the matrix for this. Treasure Island offers no stay free play on the Strip as well. I have known my host there for awhile. I asked her how that effected my rating. And she said it does work its way into your average. But not nearly as much impact as booking a comped room and THEN not playing into your average daily theoretical loss.

I've often heard from hosts that fly by play does not hurt you as much as low playing on a comped stay. Obviously you have the full rack rate of the room to "pay off" with your gambling, as well as that free play.

I believe Cosmo looks at your Trip Average, like most Strip casinos seem to do know. I know for a fact if I stay/play 1 night on a comp with MGM I'm rated on 2 days of a "Trip" and not just the 1 night I stayed in my free room. $10K of coin in on the slots that night, leave the next day, and my offers are based on $10K DIV 2 Days = $5K per day.

If Cosmo does it the same way, and since I'm not staying a room to create a "trip" I should truly be rated at just the 1 day into my averages. So I could play half as much as I would staying 1 night in a room, and be rated the same. Maybe?

I'm just saying it might not hurt you all that much. You also forfeit your resort credit along with the room when you take the free play and don't stay. So you leave a lot of comp dollars on the table.

I'd ask my Cosmo host, who is a sweetie, but I don't want her to think I'm looking to pull a fast one or something. My ti host knows about my blog and my comp-nerd obsession in regards to figuring out how things work. So I gave 2 shits asking her LOL

If I’m not mistaking a trip at Cosmo is play within a 7 day period of inserting or using your card. I also believe that Cosmos tracking system is sophisticated enough that they know Theo on a machine by machine basis then rebate a percentage. Therefore I’m not sure if Cosmo is concerned about daily play since it’s already captured in your trip play. If your coin in during a low play trip is $1000 then that’s going to be less Theo from $5000 coin in during 3 nights stay.

My offers were $475 FP plus comp nights and after 2 trips popping by and doing the freeplay (plus an extra $700 loss one trip and $350 loss on the other) my offers dropped to comp nights and $200 FP so for me I won't do that again but if I would have got some play or wins I might think different but both times freeplay and extra gone in a flash.

For those casinos using trip total theo, not daily theo, getting free play does hurt your standing, badly.

Or even worse, if you only play through the free play, with minimum or non of your own money and gone,
then the algorithm will flag you as a freeloader.
