Boner Deluxe, where even @Wanker751 quads are cherished!

Glad you switched back to DDB before the Aces hit though!

Good luck the rest of the way!

Back at Buc-ees. Drive home has been a mess because of rain.

Home. Now off to the grocery store and then Taco Cabana before we go back to adulting tomorrow.

I'll do a recap tomorrow, for now I'm going to try and stay dry and then sleep.

Quick summary and then back to work:

Gamble: Total quad count: 15. (2-A, 2-2, 3-5, 1-8, 3-9, 3-10, 1-6) and 2 dealt straight flushes just the good, not great, kind. Slots were "meh". I hit enough bonuses on day 2 and 3 to finish a little bit ahead for both of those days, but overall I was slightly down. That's the story of this entire gambling weekend. I got into a hole night one and morning 2 and spent the rest of the time trying to climb out. Fortunately I quit digging the hole deeper so I came home only around $400 down. I had slot luck early in the day, but could never hit anything in the evenings. After a couple of winning trips this one went back to being just a "normal" gambling trip as I suspected it would.

Hotel: The room was fine, nothing spectacular but the hot water worked, the toilet flushed, the TV worked and the bed was comfortable. It was a little weird in that we could hear the elevators going up and down but we weren't really all that close to them, across the hall and about 3 rooms down) didn't really bother us while we were sleeping but it was odd. What did bother us was the extremely loud lady in the adjoining room. No inside voice whatsoever.

Barber/Spa etc: Both of those were really good. Unlike last time, Mrs. P actually got her free champagne this time around, and I got a glass of Gentleman Jack on the house while waiting for my shave and haircut.

Dining: Ember Grille at L'Auberge is rapidly becoming my favorite restaurant in Lake Charles. We ate at both Vic & Anthony's and Ember this trip and I'd give the nod to the latter. We also ate at Bill's Burgers which were pretty tasty. The crispy chicken sandwich that I has was outstanding. For our come home dinner Taco Cabana messed up Mrs. P's order big time. They gave her flour tortillas instead of corn, and only gave her two tacos instead of the usual three. At least they made them beef street tacos and not chicken.

Overall: The more that we go to Lake Charles the more Golden Nugget is becoming a big restaurant for me and less of a casino. I do almost all of my gambling at L'Auberge now and just head over to Golden Nugget to eat. Not only does L'Auberge have better video poker odds, they also seem to have looser slots, although Golden Nugget does have a better slot selection, that doesn't seem to matter if you can't win at all. I can foresee a future where all of our play is directed toward L'Auberge and we just use our Landry's select card to get points for dinner. Given that Golden Nugget in downtown Vegas is almost a no-go for me except for Grotto I won't be losing anything in the way of comps there. The vibe between the two casinos is different as well. L'Auberge feels like a place you go and chill, Golden Nugget feels like a place you go to be seen. Since my goal is rarely to be seen L'Auberge is aligned more with my mood. Sorry Tillman, you're losing me as a customer in your casino. Given my play I'm sure you're not losing much sleep over that thought.

Went to bed early last night and it felt great. Came into the office this morning and there was no one here on my floor. Brewed coffee, turned all of the lights on and am now sitting in relative silence which is nice.

Thank you everyone for following along. This will be the last TR from me for 2018. Work gets crazy for both Mrs. P and I until after the New Year so we're not planning on much of anything until a possible trip back to Lake Charles in January and an already-booked Vegas trip in February 2019. Overall it's been a wildly successful year on the trip front, which I will probably recap in more depth on my sports/betting blog.

So, for the rest of 2018 I'll be living vicariously through all of you.

I’m with you regarding Ember. It’s a solid steakhouse. Looking to get there sometime between Christmas and New Years for a nice dinner on our way back from Louisiana.
