Now that’s what I’m talking about! It’s like you’ve been following me around. That’s exactly why I’m doing Hexx. It’s my understanding that a few restaurants charge this fee. I had no idea it would render the Travelzoo voucher worthless though. Thanks for the pro tip!

We got in sooo late compared to when we’re accustomed to arriving in Vegas.

We took the shuttle over to the car rental and even at 11 PM the counters were jammed. I’m signing up for the services that allow you to bypass the bullshit.

We finally checked in and went over to Luxor. The story and love affair we have with Luxor is that after we stayed at Tropicana on an Alan Thicke (Robins dad) timeshare offer many, many years ago, Luxor was the first property we booked...and that was through Hotwire so the hotels identify was withheld till after payment. We knew nothing about comps, the benefits of booking directly with the hotel, gambling or much of anything really. We think back to those times and realize how much we didn’t know about travel to our beloved city. Hell, I had no idea of the journey I just beginning with Las Vegas.
Luxor was the crown jewel property to us simply because it was so unique. The scent as you walk through the doors is one of our favorites. It also helps that over the years the place has treated us reasonably well at the machines and tables. Examples from last nights pocket dump:

Then this later after $350 run through...

Then we crashed as it was 5AM east coast time. Very long day. More later.

RDU - my home airport - Southwest could easily fill 3 direct flights a day to Vegas - crazy that there's only 1. I actually booked Delta first class with points in August because they get to Vegas 3.5 hours earlier than SW.

Nice win. I am not grokking some of the payouts in a few of these Triple/Double Diamond screenshots lately though.

    $4,500 / 3 (for the Triple Diamond) = $1,500
    $1,500 / $25 denom = 60

60 lines up with Blue 7s. Those 7s don't look blue to me. They look white and white isn't even in the paytable.

I said the same thing, but they are obviously blue. They are either faded or got the picture on the downside of the flashing symbols for the jackpot.

Sorry for a days worth of radio silence. I didn’t promise a live trip report but it sure seemed to begin that way. I spent a day with family and all that comes with that. I’ve got at least another day of it before leaving.
I managed to give over half of the first day handpay back but I had a great time doing it in true degen fashion!

Small hits like this one along the way.
Mrs. LV and I had dinner at Tender inside Luxor. I think this steak house may be underrated. We hear about all the others like Cut, SW, Carnevino, etc. Maybe it’s the location at the southern end of the strip. Maybe it wasn’t good once upon a time. Maybe it’s simply a case of ‘to each, his own ‘, but it’s amazing last night. The presentation and service was impeccable. So much so that I fell down on the food porn. But here’s post food porn?

After dinner we saw Carlos Santana. The band was tight and this created lifetime memories.

We enjoy Tender too, of the Vegas steak houses I've eaten there more frequently than any other. Largely because of the myvegas reward, but we keep going back sugar it's always very good.

Agreed, we enjoy Tender as well. Had moderate expectations and were pleasantly surprised!

Purplish Blue? Bluish purple? Someone’s blue is someone else’s purple? I don’t know . What I do know is that whatever color it actually is, it goes with everything I’m wearing.

Saturday with the family didn’t go as planned. In my case as far as family is concerned I need to keep my expectations low. Maybe it’ll be a little different today.

I performed my obligatory shopping outing without too much pain. A little Adidas and Michael Kors for Mrs. LV and my daughter.

Hmmm... just thinking. Maybe if the TR title was ‘Hunting Handpay(s), plural, in Vegas’ I’d have had more hunting success. I did get this at California late last night.

That came after seeing Jim Gaffigan at Caesars last night.

Great show and our first time at the Colosseum.

    Observation:
Maybe four nights downtown is a little long for us. We’ve grown to love this part of Vegas and all it encompasses and incorporate a night or two into every trip as of late. Also, a holiday weekend makes the ease of moving around much less pleasant.

I suppose the heater is over though. It was fun while it lasted but there’s this entity known as variance and the house advantage that’s keeping me down. I don’t know if anyone can identify with that or not. It’s been a great trip so far and I’ve already locked down flights for September.

    More later.

When in September? My wife and I just got back from a trip last week and we've also booked our anniversary trip for mid-September.

Nice Report, also love Las Vegas, got married there, been 50ish times, heading back at the end of Sept. Started out downtown then to strip for 10 years back downtown for last 3 years. I am an admitted Ham, love reading & writing trip reports on Vegas Fanatics & LV Advisor. Keep the report coming & win win win.
