Hello, we have been recieving Free Charter Flight/Hotel offer to eiither Reno or Tahoe Harrahs with free ground transfere to hotel. Flight is from ONT to Reno airport. We want to take up their offer, but kind of afraid the plane may be too small and don't feel safe. Would you share your experience if any of you have taken up that offer? Is Tahoe looser in slot or VP than Vegas, and how is their diamond lounges in Tahoe? We are thinking of going in October.

I've never taken one, but the Cesars charters are usually through Sun Country or Republic. You'd probably be looking at either a Boeing 737 or a larger Embraer 170/190 which are smaller than a 737 but pretty modern/reliable lol

My buddy goes to Tahoe all the time and always does much better there gambling than in Vegas, so anecdotely I'd say you can expect a better return there

Thanks Goldenknight for your prompt reply, glad to hear that we have better odds there, I am not looking for big win, just to have fun gambling and some sight seeings since we havn't been been there for over 10years, we would be happy if we can go home with bank roll intact.

I'm curious to hear about it if you go. I get the same offers too, but out of Phoenix. The dates haven't worked for me so haven't used the offer would like to.
I stayed at Harrah's in Tahoe last fall. The slots seemed slightly better than CET casinos in Vegas- didn't win overall but did okay. I remember the VP though was much better- I remember playing 8/5 Bonus on 50 cent level, and I think they had 9/6 DDB even on quarters.

I still prefer Reno to gamble- mainly at Atlantis or Grand Sierra, but if you haven't been to Tahoe I strongly recommend just to go and see it at least.

Yeah, I remember you said you do well in Reno, that's one reason why we even consider going there, but we like to stay in Tahoe, maybe we can get to Reno to gamble some there if we rent a car, or it is necessary to rent a car to go between Tahoe an Reno? Any Shuttle?

I don't think there's a shuttle between Reno and Tahoe other than each casino having transportation to Tahoe from the Reno airport. it's about a 45 minute drive from the area in Tahoe where Harrahs is, so renting a car might work best. The Reno casinos do all have free shuttles from the Reno airport whether you stay there or not.

I always rent a car there just because I like going to all the casinos and it’s usually pretty cheap there even renting from the airport

Atlantis is about 10 min south of Harrahs Reno.

Thank you Big Slotter/kdk, we most likely will book this trip soon, the only problem is that we already booked Encore on Oct 6th for 3 nights, that means I will have to take a full week off work, but this trip is such a bargain, it is hard to pass up. we will most likely rent a car at Harrahs rather than at the airport since they provide ground transportation between the airport and the hotel so we don't need car rental for the 4 full days. Thanks again! BTW,did you go to the diamond lounge at Harrahs? how is hot food there compare to Las Vegas? Diamond lounge in Paris Las Vegas is getting to be so good that it is almost like a mini buffet. Hope it is like that or better.

If the offer Northern Nevada Air it's not a true Junket, they put you on a Commercial Flight and then shuttle you from the airport. I just got back from Tahoe and there were like 18 going to Tahoe, they put us on small shuttles, our shuttle had beer and Wine on the way in. Last year in fall spring I went and there were only 7 and they used a limo. The Limo had a full bar. Both trips are great. Tahoe is something to see great views from the room. If you go and are Diamond make sure to get over to the Harveys Diamond Lounge, its only open Fri/Sat but is up on like the 17th floor and has a great view of the area.

Sondor, thanks for the reply and info. What room did they put you in? The basic room or the executive room with 2 bath rooms? We really would prefer a room with 2 bathrooms, we don't usually get basic room in Vegas. So I would think they would upgrade diamond members to the executive room rather than the basic room. Did they have coffee maker and coffee in your room. We don't like to have to run down to Starbucks to buy coffee in the morning, will bring our own coffee maker if we have to. We will be sure to check out Harveys Diamond Lounge. Does the Harrahs diamond lounge also open only on weekend? Another question, is the shuttle or the limo clearly mark as Harrahs? Sorry for all the questions, although it is not our first time in Tahoe, it will be our first time staying at Harrahs. Thanks again.

I never did go to the DL at Harrah's Tahoe or Harveys. Had 3 in our group so would have had to leave someone out.
I think all of the rooms at Harrah's have two bathrooms, I read the story when Bill Harrah built the place he did that to make it "special". I will say other than the buffet the food options there aren't as good as you would expect. There's an overpriced food court that doesn't take reward credits that isn't very good.

I think we will try the buffet and maybe the steak house with the diamond celebration that we have not used yet as well as visiting the DL at both Harrahs and Harvey. I have read review that says Highlander Bar is a must to visit, so we might visit that and see if their VP machines are any good and see the view that is supposed to be spectacular.

We got the Deluxe room, I think all the rooms at Harrahs have two Baths ours did. I don't drink coffee but my wife said no another couple mentioned that. Harrahs DL is open every day and has Soup, Salad and a couple hot Appetizers until they run out...No desert until like 7 or 8 they put some cookies out. The Shuttle is clearly marked it's a small airport, you just go out the end past the Luggage area and ask one of the guys. If you have more questions ask away, that is what these forms are for to share information.

Thank you so much for all you answers. Just one more question, did check in take a long time when you had 18 people in your group, do most people go to diamond registration if it has one to check in? Thanks!

You can google search the gambling payout percentages by jurisdiction in Nevada and the s Lake Tahoe numbers are a bit better than vegas strip circa 80% of the time.

Anecdotally, I seem to get way more play for the $$$ there than strip and way better comps, also (win or lose).

Thanks MonteCarloPlayer, I have seen that link b4, I found it again. It seems that Boulder strip has the best odds. But I don't see many VF member going to boulder Strip to gamble. But it seems most members here agree that Lake Tahoe is better than Vegas, it is such a bargain, free airfare, free room, ground transportation, all we need is meals which will be paid for with diamond celebration voucher and our reward points just paying for car rental and airport parking fee plus $70 administrative fee. It sure beat the 3+ hours driving to Vegas. I will see what kind of offer we will have after this trip, hopefully some free play that go along with the free air fare and hotel stay.

I think the diamond celebration can only be used 1 time, so don't count on more than one meal from that. You can't use $25 4 times to get to the $100
