Hi there. Can anyone recommend a good Indian food place in Vegas ? Not much to choose from at home so we like a good curry when we travel.

    thanks!

I love many types of Indian cuisine, and think Vegas is definitely weak when it comes to Indian food; though I’ve been to Lazeez and it’s pretty good but overall I think Vegas sucks for Indian food especially high end and fusion which I find surprising given how many mediocre expensive restaurants there are on the strip. You would think there would be at least one place in Vegas that could compare to Amaya and Gymkhana in London or even Tasty or Vij’s in Vancouver.

We used to visit family in the UK. Essentially, the best I’ve ever had. Where we live in Idaho not so much haha. Someone else mentioned Tamba to us in Vegas. Looks like we got a few to pick from.

The Mint restaurant lunch buffet is amazing and so reasonably priced. I am an Indian and I'm very picky about my Indian food. I highly recommend it

This could be a whole other thread, and a tangent in itself from that thread, but British-Indian food is not unlike American-Chinese food, in that it's not "authentic" but is probably what you're thinking of. I'll take the downstairs Wo Hop on Mott Street over Blossom at Aria almost any day.

This might blow your mind but I’ve had really good Indian food in Tokyo made by Indians . I didn’t check on the authenticity

I grew up going downstairs at a Cantonese restaurant on Mott St in the 70s.It was known by its street number. We always ate downstairs by the kitchen. My Aunt still lives on Ludlow St. #22.

I think food is personal but to be fair, I've had great "authentic" cuisine not of that country in other countries. I don't think you can blanket statement like that, IMO.

It would not even remotely blow my mind. Would not even create a slight breeze. I've had incredible French and Italian food in Beijing.

So do you have any authentic or non authentic Indian places in Vegas to recommend?

I’ve had several meals with @44inarow.
Believe me, he doesn’t know the first thing about food!

Depends on what you're considering "Indian". Lemongrass (which is sometimes open, sometimes not) has a great array of curry dishes, but those are closer to Thai. Tamba and Mint are quite good.

100% agree with this statement. Have had disappointing meals at 3 star Michelin restaurants and amazing meals at what some would consider sketchy hole in the walls.

I'd add that, for example, I distinguish between "authentic" Chinese-American from "authentic" Chinese.

"Authentic" General Tso's Chicken is not going to be found in China, nor is "authentic" Chicken Tikka Masala going to be found anywhere in India. I am firmly of the belief that good food is good food regardless of how it's classified. I'll eat the Momofuku pork buns and tonkatsu ramen any day of the week, regardless of what they call it.

I've not eaten there for a good few years, but I used to eat at Tamba during the WSOP every summer, and it was pretty good back then.
