How do you EAT in Vegas?

I agree. If I don't get comped upfront for at least rooms, I just move on. I also agree that I eat better in LV, but when I'm solo I'm more prone to quicker and less quality meals. I guess my only point in my diatribe is that I see a lot of people complain, for example about Wynn rules and comps, and still go there. I don't do that. I use this extremely complicated word, NO.

The only thing that bothers me, and it doesn't bother me that much, is that I think as a group those of us that gamble need to more often vote with our wallets. That's obviously not the case, so I just do my own thing. It seems to work out fine in my case.

I do enjoy the business of casinos however. Tried to buy into a local casino, and have owned Wynn equity since it went public. From a business perspective, my observation is that their customer loyalty model has failed. I'd evidence this by gaming revenue, some other sources of revenue, and how many manage to have to take Chapter 7 or 11.

First they overbuilt. Then they increased prices on everything outside of gaming, immediately decreasing their gaming revenue, then they (not all of them) cut into the gambler's return on gaming odds. This furthered the decrease in gaming revenue. They almost invariably carry huge bond debt, and not all of it is highly rated debt. The success and failure of Las vegas casinos is largely predictable. I enjoy watching the logistic in Las Vegas also. It's amazing when you consider all the moving parts, transportation of employees between shifts, airline timing etc. People constantly ask about when this turns the other way. It's not going to. Airlines and casino don't have a huge return on equity, and both have a lot of low paid service labor. It is what it is. Parts of this they couldn't, or can't control, but think I think it's fair to say, other parts they brought upon themselves.

 

The snake diet!

Modified - I have a few nuts or leftovers in the room after coffee, then like a big mid-morning breakfast-into-lunch, then eat a something mid-late afternoon.

I like fine dining, but nobody to eat with, plus I get sleepy after a big meal and don't feel like drinking and it's better on a emptyish stomach. Wish some of the nicer places were open earlier or for lunch.

 

I usually eat 3 times a day due to medication requirements. Either a light breakfast after my Starbucks or a nice brunch. If I do brunch then usually no lunch just a handful of nuts I keep in my bag. Dinner usually quality food and at least one really nice meal. Just enough protein to soak up alcoholic drinks.

 

I must have a cup of tea in the morning with or without anything to eat since I'm not a breakfast person. Then I gamble until I'm ready to fall out from hunger - usually between 1 - 2pm. I'll have what I've designated as "linner" (lunch & dinner) which keeps me for the rest of the day. I typically, but not always, eat where I'm staying because I always get comped for food and beverage. The comps are pretty much wasted on me unless I have a family member along. If I'm gambling into the wee hours of the morning, I may have a snack like a bagel, but that's pretty much it. However, when my daughter comes with me, she's all about the food experience and not into gambling at all so I get dragged around to various restaurants which is sheer torture because it's burning up my slotting time.

 

I am pretty sure almost everyone on this board has their meal comped however, what is the best value buffet on the cheap side in Vegas? I am heading there in Feb but don't have any comps anywhere. Thanks all!

 

I don't know if it interest you but you can play online slots Pop slots and get My Vegas coins and cash them in for free buffets at Aria, Bellagio, Mirage or a few others. It's free and doesn't take long to accumulate the points ( coins). You can also get free rooms and free play!

 

Don't go any lower than The Mirage buffet.. a C+.... Harrah's meh a C-, flamingo poor F, Treasure Island poor F, PH was good a few years back a B.... Wynn very good A,,, Aria A-... downtown, Golden Nugget B,,, MSS C....... Palms D.... Bellagio A...

Those are the buffets I've been to .............. On the strip, PH and Mirage would be cheapest, but only by $3 to $5... Mirage you get unlimited alcohol too....

No more than 2 meals a day here. Another East coaster, so I am ready for breakfast at 8AM. Most mornings it is steak and eggs for me. Dinner is early at 5-6 and dinner is half the reason I go to Vegas...........

 

Usually several coffee at the tables form 7-10am followed by a yogurt.
Light lunch.
Normally one big breakfast per trip.
Great restaurants are one of the things I look forward to in Las Vegas and try to schedule one almost every night.
Dinner is usually 8-8:30 unless there is a show.

 

I'm like you. I usually end up having one big meal (usually dinner), gamble until late. Coffee in the morning (I rarely sleep late in Vegas). Then lunch at about 12:30, dinner about 8-8:30. At home I typically eat dinner earlier because I go to sleep earlier (usually 6 or 6:30).

 

We eat twice a day....usually room service and Veuve Clicquot to start the day...don't judge us lol.

As we usually stay at a Mlife property we usually get a decent FB credit, couple that with a FB credit from our MyVEGAS host we don't have to pay for many meals ....nuff said.

For our May Cosmo trip, we plan on exploring a lot more than Secret Pizza or Wicked Spoon !!! Stay tuned.

 

1.) Usually a 2 a day person. I eat a fairly large breakfast (eggs, meat, pancakes/french toast, etc.). Sometimes a snack during the day, and then dinner.

2.) If it's a solo trip, I usually book my reservations for around 7/7:30. I typically book a show for 9/9:30.

 

I love eating in Vegas..... I eat mostly at buffets as I go solo and it doesn't feel right sitting in a restaurant alone.. sometime I scare them a little and bring my own knife-fork-and spoon-- this way they know that I mean business....

 

We're cheap. We use RC's to hit buffets right at the breakfast-lunch changeover so we use fewer RC's to pay for breakfast, but then can have both breakfast and lunch items. Last few times we've had a $100 food comp so we use that at various steakhouses. Often we just hit Chipotle or the pizza place by Harrah's for dinner, or else eat snacks at Paris, CP, or PH diamond lounge. Earl of Sandwich at PH we hit for lunch occasionally. We would rather spend our money on drinking and gambling. We also don't make as much money as a lot of other people who go to fancy restaurants every day, so there's that. But my wife loves me regardless of whether I buy her a $80 piece of kobe beef or a $3 ice cream cone, so I consider myself pretty damn lucky.

 

Since I am new to Vegas, I do eat 3 meals a day while I'm there along with a lot of snacks since I want to try everything at various places. I eat a big breakfast at around 7:30 - 9 am depends what the plan is for the day. I love eating at the pool side restaurants on pool days. We eat somewhere on the strip when we explore. Then for lunch it is usually something a little lighter since I don't have much of an appetite when it's so hot during the day. For dinner I love eating at very nice restaurants either out on the strip or in the hotels. I get lots of snacks at various cafe's & bakery's as well.
I'm sure once I am a Vegas regular, I won't eat as much. Probably fast food more often so I can spend more on slots

 

Boy, this eating thing.....kinda gets in the way of gaming and drinking doesn't it? Admittedly, I tend to eat and run. Bad habit. Far to often in rush to gamble....
