We have a great host finally at Bellagio and we have a current trip booked for the end of May. Our current offer is 1300 in FP 450 in FB and 4 nights in a suite. Our host upgraded us to a penthouse for 5 nights comped, an extra 300 in food and an extra 300 in freeplay plus Aerosmith tickets. What would be a good tip? I was thinking at least 300 hundred bucks. Is that too cheap? Too much? Thanks!

That’s an interesting one ! I asked my host once what would be a suitable recognition level for the work she does for my stays, but she wouldn’t take any cash. I guess it’s their job to keep you focused on playing, and playing at their property, presumably for 4 hours a day. What we do for her is bring presents that she intimates would be useful for her, which usually involves buying things for her kids, which she can’t get in Vegas. I imagine it’s a personal thing which you decide?

Yes it is. I don’t want him to feel like we don’t appreciate his work and the extras he’s giving us.

Those are some pretty significant “extras”. I think you’re on the right track with $300. Gifts are nice if they can’t take cash, but it’s tough to know what they would like if they don’t clue you in.

Yes it’s really nice of him. I know they aren’t supposed to take cash so I’ll just tell him to open the card in his car.

IMO $0. They're giving the extras because either your past play supports it, or they're counting on you playing a lot (more) during the upcoming trip and therefore just giving the backend comps up front. To get $1300 FP up front, you're obviously a massive spender, so I'd just take what they give you. That's my 2 cents.

Curious if with this level of spend, comps, and Bellagio host, is your Mlife status of Platinum still accurate or did they move you to Noir?

Yes I hear you and it is his job but we appreciate it. Our previous hosts could careless about us and never once did anything extra for us. This guy will find us on the floor and talk to us which makes us feel wanted.

We only go once a year so we are platinum. We usually bring 1500 a day each to spend.

I feel you are right in the ballpark. I am exclusive MGM properties and I have had various hosts. They all accepted cash tips. They had to be in an envelope so I would get a thank you card and give it to them when I saw them during the trip. My current host is absolutely amazing. So I am generous with her because my wife and I genuinely like her and she is the best at what she does compared to prior hosts. My offers are a little better than yours but % wise you tip is in line with what I give my host. In addition, when my host takes us to dinner I pay the entire tip for the meal and tip the limo (if we go to another MGM property)

Exactly what I do. Its very nice to feel appreciated isn't it. My host told me that they aren't aloud to pay for dinners anymore upfront because with all the changes going on, MGM thinks the customer should pay for it and if warranted comp it back in the end.

I don't tip mine for booking the offer. I tip because she makes sure I'm in the tower I want on the floor I want. She makes sure that I get my favorite table at my favorite restaurant, she makes sure to stop by and give the Mrs a hug and chat for a bit.
I've had crappy hosts that would book the offers and botch that and I wouldn't trust to help me plan my trip. No tip for that. Great hosts who will get the details right and make sure I get what I've earned deserve to feel as appreciated as they make me feel.

Ok. Obviously I believe you were told that, but all I can say is my own experience. During my October 2019 trip my host took my wife and me to Bavettes Steakhouse in Park MGM. She signed off for the dinner but I left the tip and tipped the limo. During my Super Bowl trip four weeks ago, we ate on sight at The Mirage (Stack) and she did the same, she took the bill and I left the tip. We already have dinner plans for April as well as a show she will attend with my wife and me. So I guess different rules apply in different situations. But I do agree things are "going on" behind the scenes at MGM properties. My free play has gone UP 20% and my resort credit has increased as well. But, the resort credit really doesn't mean a lot as I have been maxed at $5000 in express comps for over three years and my host never touches it.

Maybe we’re not high enough on the scale yet. Lol. This is the most FB and freeplay we’ve ever gotten so we’re pretty happy with that. We’ll see what happens in a couple months.

We usually get to the Bellagio about once a month. Our host has limo service to and from the airport pre-arranged and limo's anywhere we want to go during each of our trips. Also we have used the spa quite a bit and eat / drink whatever we want and never have a bill at the end of our start except if an occasional tip makes it to room charge (we tip with cash anywhere we can....servers really appreciate that). Generally speaking we get anywhere between $1,500 and $2,000 in FreePlay during our trips. I have been tipping our host $200 a trip with a couple of folded bills and a hearty handshake and (my wife calls it a guy hug LOL). I can txt and email my host and always get quick and courteous replies so I am an advocate of a little something $$$ for all of his hard work.

We have a Delano host who typically goes the extra mile for us. An extra night or two or tickets to concerts all over and above our offers. A couple times a year we do tip him with a Visa gift card. Gets around any paying with cash issues and is easily spendable for him.

Gift cards from Amazon or iTunes are basically the same as cash. The $300 figure is solid, $400 if you are winning.

You might want to find out if she likes wine; lots of options there.
