I think it’s all about business needs more than anything. If few people are at RRL then no point in a full show. No need for two coffee shops to be open if neither are that busy. I’m seeing the casinos adjusting to the low amount of patrons right now.

I’ve talked to some public health officials at work who told me this is round 1, and round 2 will come in the Fall

And so it begins. Will be interesting to see how other casino operations respond now that there is a precedent.

Do you frequently visit Pechanga, and do you feel safe? Although I haven’t stayed since August 2016, I like the property. I met someone over Thanksgiving in Laughlin who said the property has changed and not in a good way.

Got into Vegas on Thursday (3/12) afternoon. Was scheduled to fly back Sunday morning but flew back Saturday afternoon instead. Stayed at Bellagio and had friends staying at cosmo. Gambled at Bellagio, Cosmo, Aria, and Planet Hollywood. All were extremely busy and exactly like a normal Vegas weekend. This was helped by the fact that two very large conventions were in town.

When these people leave on Saturday and Sunday it’s going to turn into a ghost town. Read vital Vegas on Twitter - he’s detailed the large number of restaurants and other things closing on Sunday or Monday all over town. Way more will be closed than open. Heard from a dealer at the Bellagio on Friday night that as of Sunday 80% of the dealers there are being put on unpaid leave for an indefinite period of time (at least a couple months). This dealer also said that the Nevada state government is severely limiting the number of table games that can be active at any one time in Nevada casinos until this passes. The temporary layoffs are based solely on seniority. They (Bellagio) were supposed to be at 100% capacity for March Madness later this week. The pit boss I was talking to with the dealer said that they are now set to be at 5% capacity next week instead. FIVE. This is not a typo.

The people that shorted casino stocks are printing money. I personally feel that the pendulum has swung way over to the side of overreaction, but I understand why they are doing it. The bottom line are these are huge changes that are going to be around for a while and Vegas will not be a viable destination until we’re past all of this. That local economy is going to be crushed. (Much like our national one, but I expect Vegas’s to be worse and longer)

My brother and his 21 yr old are visiting. Bottle 1 was a French Bordeaux. Here’s what is left of bottle 2. The kid had maybe one possibly two glasses. This buzz is just what I need to get me through the week, figuring out how to navigate Coronavirus and a cancelled Vegas trip.

I recently went to Pechanga for the first time in a while. I don’t remember going in 2019 because I began flying to San Diego whenever I needed to go there for work. I went during the middle of the day after the first corona cases hit California, so it was pretty empty. I felt like their selection of slot games was lacking because some of the newer games that I’ve seen in Vegas aren’t there.

On another note, seeing all of those people within close proximity of each other at O’Hare and DFW airports made my skin crawl. These are people who rushed out of the U.K. and Ireland. It’s going to be a madhouse later today.
