Talk about good timing...I'm also heading to Vegas on Thursday! I've been in Toronto since Saturday visiting friends and my godson who is on March break, but with an Air Canada Aeroplan points voucher burning a hole in my pocket, I thought I'd bookend my Toronto trip with a quick jaunt to Vegas. Pretty much the same routine for me...4 nights at Cosmo. I did receive word just yesterday that a coworker / friend who I haven't met up with in Vegas for many years was able to book a last minute trip for a few nights, so it will be nice to see him as well!

Debating whether I should post here or on the group TR. Thoughts, @IrishDave? Might be handy and convenient for anyone following along the next few days, but at the same time I don't want to hijack someone else's trip report.

Thanks, @IrishDave! I meant to do a pre-trip post last week, but with all of the craziness and meshuganas of preparing for my Toronto trip I forgot all about it. Toronto and Vegas are easily my two favorite cities, so it was great to visit Toronto for a few days. March weather can always be unpredictable, but we were fortunate to have beautiful weather on Monday and Tuesday for running around and sightseeing. My godson loves riding trains and subways (as do I), so getting to wherever we were going was half the fun. But now it’s time to trade in subways, streetcars, and non-stop walking for a nice, cozy seat at Chandelier enjoying a cocktail and bartop VP and keno!

I had to use the points on my Aeroplan voucher all at once, so I had just enough to book a business class ticket to Vegas (a first for me). Oh, it was going to be wonderful…a cozy lie flat seat in one of those newfangled airplane pods. Unfortunately, last month AC downgraded the flight from AC proper to AC Rouge, their “leisure travel” subsidiary, where business class isn’t quite the same experience. After chatting with our resident “Air FU Canada” expert, @Royal Flusher, I called and found out that I’m likely due for a partial point refund on account of the downgrade, so I’ve got that going for me, which is nice. I thought I was just going to get royally (pun intended) screwed, so thanks, @Royal Flusher, for the info!

A 4 AM alarm always seems to come around very quickly, but it’s always welcome when it’s for such a good cause! Let’s go!!!

If you’re geek like me, you can pull up the live Las Vegas airport camera on YouTube (channel is called Happy Landings) and, depending on which runway the cameras happen to be tracking, watch yourself land! The feed is usually up 24/7, although they usually track inbound flights only during daylight hours. Pretty cool!

In other news, I’m here!!!

 

Well, a swing and a miss with a Platinum upgrade at check-in (again), but I did get a room in the Boulevard tower, so I’m happy!

After a brief hangup with the room safe, it’s time to get to work!

 

….and a wonderful lunch at the Henry with my godparents. But has the serving size of the tater tot nachos shrunk recently?
