Is Wynn still Status matching?

I know the Red Card room is as dead as they come. Only one thread in all of last year. But does anyone know if they are still Status Matching other clubs?

I'm going to be staying at Resorts World my next go round. So I'd finally have a reason to kick some tires on Wynn. I haven't given them any play in well over a decade.

I know they matched around the time RW opened. But I haven't heard anything since early last year.

Idk for sure. I did hear they cancelled a ton of the status matches they made. Sounds like people that status matched but didn’t play had it reversed.

I was at Wynn in July 2022 and the person who status matched me told me that it would end in August 2022. It doesn't hurt to go and ask, although its unlikely. I believe Resorts world might still be status matching.

*edit. Now that I think about it, it could have been in 2021 and ended August 2021. Hope someone else can chime in with current information.

Seriously doubt it after the prior match fiasco.
Plus, now that RW isn't really stealing any players.. it's less of a threat.

Sounds like they are temporarily matching people again, new and existing members

It doesn't appear like the free cruise for Platinum and up members looks to be available for matched accounts

"The Tier Match and associated benefits will only apply at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore Las Vegas properties."

I might as well go and do it when I am in town in April, will ask but would be WOW if they were letting matched guests also get the cruise benefit.

Also read that EVEN IF Wynn lets tier matched guests do the free cruise, you have to have 2 nights stay at the Wynn, not consecutive nights, to qualify for that. Still, not a bad deal (I have so many comp cruise offers so probably won't even try for that) but the birthday 150.00 credit is nice.

I did the whole tier matching parade at the end of May in Vegas, that's been all over social media.

I started with my MGM Pearl (which I didn't earn either, I got from the MLife credit card).
Took the MGM Pearl to Fontainbleau and got Silver
Took the Silver to Wynn and got my Red Card turned to Platinum
Took the Wynn Platinum over to Caesars and got Diamond (I never had a Caesars card)
Returned back to MGM and matched Wynn to get upgraded to Gold (only good for 90 days)

It's pretty funny when you think about it. All of them unearned by play, just a snowball because Fontainblue is (I think) mistakenly treating MGM Pearl like Gold and matching it to Silver.

What do I actually get out of it if I'm not actually playing to those levels?
    1) Got my MGM resort fee waived for my entire trip for being upgraded to Gold. That was $200+
    2) Fontainebleau just informed me I have a $100 food credit until the end of the year for being Silver
    3) Caesars rewards desk said I will be getting the $100 celebration dinner, though it's not on my account today
    4) Supposedly have a $150 birthday dinner credit and $100 spa credit at Wynn though I haven't confirmed that is on my account yet either

Not bad for just wandering around to rewards desks for a morning

One item I do find interesting - Encore Boston supposedly does not recognize this upgrade, and keeps me at Red.

This reminds me sooooo much of the Airline Miles & Points Vanilla gift card scheme from a few years back.

People would basically buy the Gift cards with their airline credit cards, get the points, and then use the gift card to pay off the balance. Once you had the card, and paid the initial purchase fee, then you could reload the card ad nauseum with your airline card, and just pay of the balance with the Vanilla card. People would repeat this practice and rack up Millions in free air miles. The airlines had zero clue.

Then, points and miles bloggers started making blog posts about it in an attempt to drive clicks and views. Once they discovered it the airlines worked with Mastercard and especially Visa (Visa was not only a credit card partner with the airlines but were the backer of the Vanilla Card) to shut this down. Now you cannot purchase a Vanilla card with an airline card. I believe they are debit or cash only.

A similar thing happened with fuel dumps. There were threads galore on how to complete that hack on the travel forums, but they were in code and the airlines did not understand them. Then a points and miles blogger laid it out on his blog, not in code, and the airlines reacted and now it doesn't work any longer.

I've a feeling the casinos won't be long in figuring out a way to continue to status match, but avoid giving away the farm. My initial guess is spend minimums prior to qualifying for the mid to upper tier freebies.

i think you are right. MGM is already there. Their status match is only good for 90 days, you gotta earn it to keep it - and their $100 reward dinner credit only happens if you have 75,000 tier credits. I'm surprised the others aren't this same setup, but I'm sure they'll go there.

The original Judas blogger was MrPickles and exposing the US mint coins-for-points deal. Bloggers still rat out whatever they can get their grubby little clickers on, so only the best deals and tricks are had based on word of mouth. Every so often some clueless newbie posts it online (ie Flyertalk), thinking that it's good for the community when in fact both airlines and bloggers are monitoring the feeds on the minute.

Yes, I'm annoyed but I've enjoyed some of the best deals over the past 20 years..so it's more nostalgia than bitterness.

The best status match going on right now is the Royal Caribbean/MGM partnership. I’ve gotten matched every year for at least three years to MGM gold via my Royal Caribbean crown and anchor status. Right now you just have to be Emerald on Royal Caribbean to match to MGM Gold but I am sure they will raise it.

I guess we'll let you join...

Nice work! This was something that we SHOULD have done on our spring trip.

M said she mentioned it to me before the trip, but it went in one her and out the either I guess, and I sorta dismissed the value. Fuckkkk.

We tied matched with Wynn in April and will be in LV next month for a birthday celebration and forgot all about the Birthday dining / free play and spa credits. Has anyone used these from the status match earlier this year? Do you actually have to be staying there or can you just stop by and use those benefits?

They are no longer matching. In regards to the benefits, you do not need to be a guest.
