Jen's January Jaunt (semi-live) - Cromwell and Wynn, 1/20-1/24

Headed to the airport soon for a long weekend getaway to Vegas. I've had the week from hell - got in a car accident the other night (rear ended another car) and should've gotten checked out by an ambulance because I'm extremely sore and I definitely have a contusion/bruising on my left hand. And then I went to drive my car to the shop on Wednesday and it overheated and I stalled on the expressway, so I needed to get it towed! So I'm stiff and barely able to move, but for Vegas, I must soldier on!!!

This was sort of a "spur of the moment" trip for me, it's only been in the works for a few weeks. Main reason for choosing this weekend is I have $750 in fp at the Wynn and $600 in fp at Tropicana. The Wynn offer was good through April but the $600 at Trop was specifically this weekend.

When I called the Wynn to reserve my room, my offer was for three nights in a resort king plus the $750 fp. But back in November, I had gotten a weird email from a "telemarketing specialist" with the subject line (Confidential) WYNN/ENCORELASVEGAS, the contents of which basically stated 3 nights RMO Parlor Suite $750 f/c per stay. Now I have no idea why I got this email or even if I was *supposed* to get this email, but I mentioned the offer to the agent and he said, hmmm let me put you on hold and see if that's valid. He came back ten minutes later and said, "yes, I can get you into the Parlor Suite!" So I'm psyched to be able to use the Tower Suites entrance and get all of the little amenities that come with the suite, not to mention the sheer size of the room! Lesson here is, even if you don't think you qualify for something, it never hurts to ask!!

Since we're flying in late tonight, I didn't want to use one of the nights for the nice Wynn room tonight, so I emailed my CET host and asked if I could get two nights at Cromwell (that way won't have to check out tomorrow early). Normally I probably could not get comped there, but I still have my Diamond Aspiration 1 trip, so she used that for two nights at Cromwell. I also have a $100 food credit with them which we will use tomorrow for brunch @ Giada. Then Saturday will check into the Wynn for three nights, departing Tuesday. Also on Sunday I have to check in at Tropicana to get the $600 in fp there.

My friend Heather graciously agreed to join me on this trip... well, I'm sure the tease of the Parlor Suite didn't hurt! Heather's not a huge gambler but she'll sit with me and put a $20 in a machine and milk that $20 as long as she can. She's very much into shopping, and her favorite store is Marshall Rousso, of which they have several locations in Vegas (and none here in Chicago!) so she always goes crazy hitting all of the different locations. And she's the kind of person who would rather go to a nice lounge or bar and spend $15 on a drink rather than sit and wait for a watered down cocktail at the slot machine (which, most of the time ends up costing me more than $15 anyway!). I tend to have very different trips when I go with her as opposed to when I go with other friends. So, this trip will focus more on nice meals, drinking fancy cocktails, shopping, people watching, and less on gambling. But, I *do* plan on giving Wynncore most of my play this trip, because I want to keep getting offers from them. This is my second free room/$750 fp offer and I'd like to keep continuing to receive them in the future.

I also have $125 in fp from Cosmo which I will definitely stop by to use as I want to get some play in there. We might do Wicked Spoon for brunch on Sunday since I have the Gold 2-4-1 benefit.

Not a lot of set plans except we've got tickets to Human Nature tomorrow night (it's their last show before a month long hiatus!), dinners at Sinatra, Bouchon, and maybe Momofuku? Made reservations for Monday night but we will play it by ear.

I'll try to update as much as possible but it may only be a few times a day. Those who know me know I tend to start off strong and fade by the middle of the trip - I'll try not to do that this time!

Thanks @VegasChic! I'm excited about the shopping and foo foo cocktails since I don't get to do that on every trip. And yes, hopefully it will slow the bleeding!

I should've added that I am primarily a slot player, but do play VP too. DSTP, Spin Poker and Dream Card are my crack, and if I can find a combination of those in one machine, watch out!!

Yes, in other circumstances, I might cancel my trip, but not this time! LOL!

Besides, it's nothing a little Advil and vodka won't fix!

Thanks Jason! So, there is a Lounge we can use every day? Do they have coffee in there? (I don't drink it, but Heather does.)

Looking forward to the included breakfast at Tableau too but we might end up only taking advantage one morning since I really want Sunday brunch somewhere and Tuesday morning we have to leave for the airport pretty early.

First drink of the trip! Publican Mimosa which is witbier and OJ. Made it through TSA Pre in no time at all and now just waiting for Heather to get here. She ended up getting upgraded to first so I'm hoping my upgrade comes through too.



This is a new place at O'Hare and pretty cool! Interesting drink menu.
