Anyone been to Laughlin in the recent months?

Convinced a work friend whose never left town since the lockdown happened last year to take a break. I've never been but was thinking about going for a few days to check it out while working remotely.

I know it’s close to Vegas but I’ve heard mix stuff about Vegas from people. Figure Laughlin won’t be as crowded, so easier for my friend to adjust.

Just looking for a hotel with clean rooms, strong, strong in room WiFi signal, and room service. Or is it better to rent a house?

Also If anyone has any restaurant recommendations. Open to any high end places if they exist.

I am not sure about the "strong" wifi signal, but I've stayed in all 3 towers at harrahs and most give you "decent" connections. A lot depends on what you like to do and if you want to walk to other casino's or not. I prefer Harrahs, although I always have a car. It is at the far south end and on top of a hill so it is quite a hike to the other casino's. Not all of the restaurants are open yet, but they do have a good steak house, cafe, and mexican restaurant. They have multiple pools and a little beach area. I noticed you are diamond so you should be able to get multiple nights in Laughlin for free.

If you want to be withing walking distance of other casino's I would choose the Nugget or Aquarius.

Really I just need the WiFi connection to be reliable to make phone calls over it. Probably the equivalent of streaming a YouTube channel for 8 hours.

Will have a car but walking isn’t an issue. Rather be at a cleaner hotel and have to walk a half mile or so.

I appreciate the input. Leaning towards Harrah’s then. Since I’m not sure if I’d ever go back, Golden Nugget and Harrah’s are the only real chains, I recognize there.

I was just at Aquarius about a month ago.

Definitely not as busy as normal on a weekend but busier than I expected.

Rooms there are fine, nothing special. WiFi in the room always worked well for me, and I just used the free WiFi never did the upgraded one.

I used to stay at Harrahs but the casino always seemed like the tightest in the world so haven’t been back in years. I haven’t been back since they finally remodeled the rooms.

Aquarius still has some really good video poker so kind of the draw for me.

Tropicana there is now a CET casino also. Casino is okay but never stayed there

There’s no “higher end” type casino in Laughlin so don’t expect anything like you would find in Vegas but it’s a slower pace there and still fun

Usually a much older crowd as in mostly seniors during the week and in the winter

During the warmer season it’s more families with kids who are there for the water activities

I’ll look into Aquarius and see how it looks.

Normally I stay at Cromwell if I’m solo to gamble or Wynn if my wife comes. But I’m going into this with lowered expectations.

This is more about being able to check out after work and blow off some steam. Been working 50+ hour weeks for a few months and I need a break. I feel that if we went to Vegas, it would be too distracting. Hoping at Laughlin we can just relax more. Walk around with a Rum & Coke. Maybe talk to some AARP members at the craps tables and hear some stories.

Appreciate the insight. Will also look for the VP at Aquarius.

About 100 nights stayed in Laughlin...
About wifi signal, it works well at Tropicana, Harrah's, Aquarius and Golden Nugget, the rooms are clean, if you decide to stay at Harrah's, South tower is very quiet !
"The beach cafe" at Harrah's is open and we always enjoyed their food, we like a lot the"Smashburger" ,not really a fast food it's rather a dinner, good food and they are very friendly !

Great feedback. I’ll look at the South Tower then. I do love Smash burger, it’s all about the milkshakes.

The rooms are smaller than Harrah's SoCal, Ak-chin or Tahoe but confortable with a safe.
I've almost forgotten...5/8 minutes walk from Harrah's (with 94 steps :) ), you can eat or drink at the "Old Saloon" , fantastic place to go with great staff !

I always wondered about that "Old Saloon", used to sometimes accidentally turn into their parking lot since it looks like an entrance to Harrah's but it isn't. Looked like a locals type place but haven't tried it.

First time in Laughlin was in 2008, first time at Old Saloon in 2018,
every time we walk from river walk to Harrah's and reverse, every time in summer with 110/118 ° and I needed 10 years to take a drink at Old Saloon, sometimes I'm totally stupid:)

Will definitely check out the Old Saloon.

Decided to book at Harrah’s. The last few days I’ve tried to connect with a host at Laughlin. I’ve got a small offer in my account there which is only $125FP & $25 FB.
Normally in Vegas I get 3-4x that at the higher end CET properties. Figured I could get something at least on par with Vegas or at least additional comped room. Of course no host will answer the host line number.
Booked through VIP and that second room was at a rate higher than Priceline. Guess I’ll be staying at Harrah’s and opening a LOC else where.

I heard pioneer has 10x odds for craps.
