    Hello all,

I wanted to do a little high rolling on my upcoming trip, but want to do it on a slot that should, in theory be less volatile. So, I think off that bat, anything with a progressive I want to avoid, since the payback % is skewed toward a large part of the payback being through the progressive right?

I do love Buffalo Gold. Would that be consider less volatile?

thanks in advance for any tips/machine suggestions. looking for time on machine for comp accumulation and just so I don't blow my "high roll budget" in 2 minutes lol. Thanks!

Any Buffalo game is going to be a bad choice if you're looking for low variance. Stick with older reel slots. In general they will have a better payback and be less volatile, especially in HL.

Colossal Reels (Lil Red, Spartacus, Towers of the Temple) usually are low volatility.

I agree with @Goldenknight . $5 & $10 reels would be my target. My typical go-to when I'm converting free play is older versions of Pinball.

For low volatility, I don't think it's even close -- gotta go with "Lucky Lines" by IGT. It's a 20-line, traditional 3-reel slot that guarantees 100% hit frequency if you play all 20 lines. The catch of course, is that most of the time you're getting 5 or 10 credits back per 20 wagered on every spin.

I prefer to think of this game as a slot hack in which you can use your players' card to accumulate 33% more points for free, by treating it as a game that costs 15 credits per spin and pays back 0 or 5 most of the time.

Thanks all. By Older reel slots do you mean the 1 payline? 3 payline? 5? or which ever. I'd probaly prefer min of 3 reels. so, many dead spins when i try the 1 reel slots. Thanks a lot for the suggestions.

There's no such thing as a one reel slot, unless you count the Big Wheel and roulette.

    This is what you want.

Three reels, old school. This one has one payline, other reel slots can have three or five or even nine, but really, more paylines is just increasing your bet, not really changing anything.

Pretty sure he just meant to say 1 line, not one reel. 1 reel machines could be a game changer lol

Also pay attention to what the top prize is. If the top jackpot is some crazy number or a progressive chances are the variance is higher since they need to pay for that top prize. A slot like Double Diamond where with one coin the top prize is 800 coins and two coins it scales to 1600 coins. That will usually be a lower variance than say a machine that would scale to 5000 coins if you play the two max coins.

A five line 3 reel slot is a good option usually.
At a dollar denomination that’s $5 per spin but if it’s a game like double diamond you’ll get your bet back or more on a lot of the spins and yet you still can win something decent.

I find on these I can put in just $100 and often cycle through at least $500 before it’s gone and many times actually get a win. Comps rack up quick and usually can play longer than most games at a $5 bet level.

Most (if not all Aristocrats) are very volatile.
