Have stayed as far up the strip as Aria. So not familiar with the CET properties or the middle of the strip area where LINQ is. Any tips on getting a room at LINQ. Anything I should be looking to get foodwise around that area? Or any good bars to watch games? Best spot for gambling? .... I know very general questions.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks everyone!

Welcome to the Vegas Fanatics group! I think you'll find we are a fun and friendly bunch here. I've learned so much about Vegas and gambling in my time here.

Central strip is an area I spend a lot of time in. There are great restaurants and bars all around the area, and lots of gaming choices in close proximity.

If you've never eaten at Hash House A Go Go, it's a must try at least once. Portions are unreal and quality is OK. It's up the escalator at Linq. The fried green tomato appy is really good, and they have a BLT bloody mary that's nice too. If you're looking for higher-end food, I'd head for Venetian/Palazzo. Many choices there including Chica, Grand Lux (fabulous martinis) and Yardbird (Deviled eggs are outstanding). My vote for a great breakfast is Mon Ami Gabi. Crepes or Eggs Benedict, you can't miss.

Gambling.....I'm a Treasure Island guy, but also love Venetian/Palazzo. My favorite high limit room is Mirage. I'm not one to hang out in bars, but I'm sure some of the others have thoughts on that.

Appreciate the help MN! Thanks for the welcome... I've been reading the posts here for a while and have always appreciated the advice on the board. Definitely have learned a lot on here.

I'll for sure give Hash House A Go Go a try. Sounds right up my alley. I haven't gone further than this area in the past so it'll be mostly new territory.

    Thanks again!

There is a new donut place in the linq which makes fresh to order mini donuts.

Ghiradellis in the promenade if you want ice cream.

Haute Doggery in the promenade has poutine for fans on that.

Carnival Court between the linq and Harrahs is a great bar with great live music.

There is an IN N OUT fast food burger located in Linq, I don't know if you have heard of it. It is very popular, very busy all the time. It has the best burger and french fried potatoes at very reasonable price. Our friends from out of town consider it a must try fast food place to dine.

    First: Welcome aboard.

Second: When it comes to rooms, angle for the Strip view. The other views can be underwhelming unless you like looking at concrete and parking garage walls. The higher the floor the better, avoid floor #2 as that's the pool floor. If it's still open it can be a mess, and noisy. If it's not open it's OK though.

As for gambling, it (sorta) depends on what games you like to play but the biggest problem is that you are on the Strip. Cosmopolitan across the way probably has the best gaming for slots and VP, their table games are OK. Depending on your betting level you're probably looking at a long line of 6/5 Blackjack however. Avoid the 3-zero roulette tables at all costs.

There's a ton of food around LINQ, especially in the Promenade. Gordan Ramsay's Fish N' Chips, the Haute Doggery, In and Out, Flour and Barley (pizza). Chayo's has good Mexican food but they've started charging a CNF fee so I would either avoid that or reduce your tip accordingly.

I've heard that The Book at the LINQ is a fun place to watch the football games. I hear the open seating goes pretty quickly but you can rent a "fan cave" as an option. Not sure about the pricing however, it might be a little steep because in pictures they ALWAYS appear to be available.

One last thing: The shower amenities at the LINQ are in dispensers on the walls, not in bottles. I didn't like the body wash or the shampoo so we bring our own when we stay there. YMMV.

    Have fun and good luck.

Thanks NickP for the tips! I heard something about "The Book" at LINQ and it sounded pretty interesting. I'm open to any other suggestions down that way for watching the NFL Games.

Pretty much any casino down that way has a sports book. In most of them now you'll have to pay early and reserve a seat if you want to sit and watch. Personally I like the Cosmo sports bar at their book. You can usually grab a seat if you show up early. Not too much seating elsewhere though.

Caesars is the gold standard for books in that area. Very popular, but you do have to reserve and pay for a seat if you want one on NFL Sundays. I personally like the sports book at Bally's, but many don't because the TV's are sadly out of date. A little further down the book at Mandalay is decent as well, as is the one at Luxor. I think you can snag seats at those two places without paying if you arrive early enough.

I do most of my sports betting off-strip now but when I did go to on-strip books those were the ones that I visited.

Thanks NP... I've been to Aria for an NFL Sunday and was impressed. Since it's Wild Card weekend and only one game on a time I figure I might find a different spot. Caesar's I have not been to (SportsBook) though, so maybe that's my best bet.

Yard House in the Linq promenade is a good place to watch games. Can't comp anything, but good beer selection and multiple TVs.
