I know don’t even get me started on that game at one point I was sure it was over. I’ll be sure to update travel conditions at Pearson.

Thank you!!! It probably wouldn’t be the strangest thing someone brought with them. I swore I’d never spend that kind of money on a glorified curling iron/hairdryer but god it’s amazing and I got it as a gift so even better

We just left the house aiming to be at park n fly for 4 hoping traffic isn’t too bad. We typically take a car service to the airport but with this whole quarantine thing that went out the window.

Bankroll secured hopefully I make it through with no ATM runs. It’s those morning coffees that end up being so costly.

That's a nice healthy bankroll - looks like it's going to be lots of fun!

Did you have to give any sort of excuse to fly to the US? Kinda confused about how all this works.

Sitting at the gate waiting...there is nothing open in F gates other than duty free and a sundries store. Two bags of beef jerky and a bottle of water cost us $22 could have been worse. We were hoping to have a drink before boarding but that’s not happening.

They only had one lane open in security so there was a little bit of a wait. Once we got to the front of the line they opened a second lane.

Customs was quick and easy he asked us a few questions. He said we’re crazy for going to LA but I explained to him it’s just a layover and we’re on to Vegas. He asked how much cash we were travelling with and said I hope you come back with more than you left with. It seemed like business as usual in customs.

Nope no excuse! We said we were going on vacation. We can travel by air it’s just the land border that’s closed. We are required to quarantine for 14 days when we return.

Thanks for the response. It's hard keeping up with who can go where these days, and honestly, I'm not sure I understand the difference between travel by air vs land. Hope you get to see the Pacific while in LA. Stay safe!!!

Boarding complete not even close to a full flight! We scored and have no one else in our row!

Little amenities package....pretzels, water, sanitizer, wipes, mask, gloves, and headphones! You’d never get that many goodies on rouge

And I'm hoping that changes by the time you get back. Germany today passed their new incoming laws requiring travelers from "hot spots" to get tested upon entering the country - after which they are to start a 14-day quarantine if / until they get a negative test. So if the negative test comes back quickly then it's a much shorter quarantine. I've been advocating that in Canada for months - hopefully they take Germany's example and implement it.

Bingo has been called. In theory they're differentiating the freedom of movement when arriving by air since you'd have to rent a car which is more expensive than just driving across; and potentially the volume as well since land crossings are cheaper than air crossings. The other thing to point out is that all travelers from any nation coming IN to Canada must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or special exemptions. No traveler from another country regardless of the method of crossing the border is allowed. Canadians can get out by air and come back by air - that's basically it. And upon return it's mandatory (and enforced) to sit alone in shame for 14 days without symptoms - if you have symptoms then it's to the hermetically sealed bunker for you. Getting a test is not really part of the strategy.

Canada compared to the US right now might as well be a different planet. Our numbers are good, but we are definitely playing this whole thing very, very conservatively. My local casino has been allowed to have been open for almost a month now but they STILL aren't actually open because of the hard cap of 50 on capacity. I feel like there is a growing amount of civil unrest peculating right now - the fact that the US made such a mess of things helps quash it (for now).

But I'll be very curious to see @MeaghanCamilla compare indoor dining during the trip to what it is back home in Ontario, which for those who don't know, is that indoor dining is allowed BUT both capacity and group sizes are limited, all employees must be wearing a mask at all times, and customers can only remove their mask when sitting down. So upon entry / exit / going to the bathroom - basically any time there's even a remote possibility of coming in contact with another human being - masks are mandatory. I actually think those restrictions are fair and workable (albeit a bit of a kitchen sink approach) - so it'll be very interesting to see what my fellow Canuckistani's end up doing for this trip. I'm finding more and more people around here are starting to wear masks even when it's not mandatory (ie where it doesn't make sense like outside or alone in their car) probably because putting one on is becoming a habit more than taking it off.
