I am the lowest of low roller at Cosmo. I try to focus on slots at Cosmo and have about a $500 a day budget. Over the last year my offer went from $25 free slot play with a $50 bonus for hitting 2500 points in 48 hours to $75 and the same bonus.

Coming up in March I have a 2 night stay at Cosmo, one night at like $200 and my Sterling night. I get in at 5 pm. Which option would be mostly likely to increase my offers, meager though they may be:

    1. Keep the reservation at Cosmo and play ~$500 a day.

    2. Change the reservation from Cosmo to Mlife or downtown where I get free rooms, low play them because I’m moving away from them and burning comps, and drop in at Cosmo and play for 1 day for however long $700-$900 will last?

Whichever is better, is it likely to change after 1 trip? I do like staying at Cosmo and would miss it but would like to sneak in another trip in June under a hopefully increased offer at Cosmo.

Before we even get to the options, IMO: If you like staying at Cosmo, like most of the people here, then I'd go with that... It's not a good idea to play for comps.

The Sterling night is considered an earned benefit, so it's not the same as a casino comped night. Is the $200 for the other night based on an offer or are you paying what's on their website?

In terms of options 1 and 2, my opinion is it's a wash. At Cosmo, offers are based on past play. So whether you stay at Cosmo in option 1 or stay somewhere else but play at Cosmo in option 2, you're getting the same amount of coin in thru the machines. Thus based on my knowledge of their system, your next offer would probably be the same for both options. Cosmo is all about coin in.

Is staying at Cosmo one night and another place an option? I would do the first night, since you get in at 5 at somewhere else you have an offer and just play there a little, then when you have a full day at Cosmo, use your Sterling night so you are comped and play all day. It will save you the $200 in paying for a night which could be another $200 for bankroll anyway. That way you give Cosmo one full day of play for your future offers. I find you are better focusing your play there all in one day, unless you can keep the play level up for two. You'll get an offer about a week after based off this new level of play that you can use in the future.

Thanks for the reply. I was worried that either option would be about the same. I don’t know what the rate for the first night is but I don’t think it’s rack. It seems like full price. It’s not through an offer though. I didn’t know if not using my sterling night would help at all but I just didn’t think about that it’s for past play. I’m not playing for comps at any of this, the bankroll is always what it is. Im just trying to play smarter with it. Anything extra is coming from mlife. I play enough downtown, at CET and MGM to get comped rooms everywhere but Caesars and Bellagio and aria. I’m just trying to focus on two, Cosmo and CET, instead of 4.

It is an option but I don’t know if I feel like moving twice for a 2 night stay. Plus, after my two night stay, I’m moving to Ballys for the actual start of the March madness games. (Ballys comped every night but Friday, I first for me during MM) I’ll give Cosmo what I have in my bankroll for that day even it’s just from 5 on. I can lose $500 with the best of them. .

I'd do Cosmo and see if you can get any back end comps. If variance isn't too variable, $500 ADT would come pretty close to getting the room covered I'd think.

I agree with what @IrishDave said. The reality is whether your a low roller ( I consider myself in that realm ) or a high roller, it’s all about getting the most bang for your buck. Finding those machines that just let you play and really maximize coin in :) you need to stay and play where you personally feel you get your most value and for me personally because I am a little fish in a very large pond, I focus my play at the place I want to stay and do not divide it up too much. Whatever you decide, you can’t go wrong, it’s vegas :) best of luck on your upcoming trip !!

the good thing about being central strip is if the machines get tight.. u can always migrate to another casino. sometimes that walkway between bellagio n cosmo can be a blessing.. you know, so you can reevaluate your life choices after donking off $$$ for that bonus those bastards owe you and me (that didn't happen). lol

My instinct is to say stay both nights at Cosmo, for a couple of reasons:

    • I usually do two trips a year at Cosmo, one that's 4 nights and one that's 6. Even though my average coin-in per night is the same on both trips, my offers usually get a bump after the 6 night trip. I'm also extrapolating from a comment I recently saw from Kevin which I took to imply that a slightly lower ADT over more nights is as good as a slightly higher ADT over fewer nights for purposes of marketing offers. I think the reason is that, even though on a longer stay, the casino is paying for more room nights, you are (most likely) still profitable each night. So they still end up with more profit on a longer stay, even if you play a little less per night.
    • From reading things people have said here and elsewhere about walk-in play at Cosmo, either to get teasers or just because that's how they happened to do it, it seems like the same amount of play has a better effect on offers when you are actually staying there.

And as an aside about MLife, if you have a decently long history with them, I'm finding their bridge is almost fireproof. I've been roughly half-playing them ($2,000 - $2,700 coin-in/night vs. $4,000+) for almost 3 years now and the only thing that's happened so far is that my FP & RC have gotten cut in half (from $200 / $100 to $100 / $50). They're still sending me 4 night offers.

Ooh. That is a very interesting tidbit. I have stayed fewer days than I wanted because I was concerned about the ADT.

Maybe "better" wasn't the right word to use. "As good as" might be more accurate. I went back and edited the earlier post.

Thanks Chuck, that’s helpful. I think I’m going to keep those days at Cosmo and maybe try to step up my play there during those days. With regards to what you say about MLife, I’m seeing that too. I just booked a Thursday to Sunday stay and Mandalay Bay that’s comped. I didn’t play a dime at MLife properties in 2018.

Was Mlife pearl, it expired :(

Same. when I was rolling I always stayed at Monte Carlo, which has been at least 5 years since the last visit, and still get 4 night offers from Park MGM. I stayed at Mirage once since so maybe that has something to do with it (3 nights from Mirage). Makes me think I should give MGM some love this year to keep the comps in incase Cosmo is only giving me initial offers.
