A man who enjoys Vegas and Gambling from time to time walks into a meeting with his retirement financial planner one day and in reviewing progress towards escaping the rat race is told, you are not meeting your planned yearly increases into your retirement funds that you created and had me setup 10 years ago. Said man says with a puzzled look on his face, what plan that I setup? Planner then pulls out said plan that has said mans seal of approval from 10 years ago... Mans first response was " all you want is more fees for my higher balances".. to which he receives a swift elbow to the ribs from said mans wife who he forgot was sitting next to him... So, upon returning from said mans last Vegas Vacation the first week of last February, he makes a pact with the devil that he will give up all lifes fun, meaning disposable income for the next year and funnel all that into the retirement plan to make said financial planners fees go up, as well as undertake many home improvements that he also neglected for a while, that take most of said mans free time when he would have normally been perusing the fine array of Vegas and Cruising Message Boards.

Thus we end up on February 1st 2018, today and said man has met his plan, ( if not his home improvements :( ).and is free to spend some disposable income on fun, meaning gambling and dinner. Does said man wait maybe a day or two or a week to indulge in this activity.....would you?? That is correct you wouldn't and neither would he... :)

So here we are with nary 50 miles separating said man from the pleasures of life he will saunter, saunter mind you not wander down to Atlantic City, where the sand turns to gold to visit the Golden Nugget and have some gamble and dinner, and will document this occasion in this semi-live report later tonight.

I will add a big Thank You to all the reports that people have provided that I am just now catching up on and are providing such relief and anticipation, even though I was not around to participate during the trips they are appreciated now.

Release the hounds.. or Tbone's ...

Good luck Tbone! Glad you can get some well-deserved relaxation. I’m getting mine at The Water Club this weekend. It’s been a while for me too, but finally back!

Golden Nugget is not the best VP haven. This is one of one multi line game I found

After this draw I pulled quad 10’s, and queens in back to back draws. Does not win much at .10 cents but helps you play for a bit. Ran my 300. Up to 750.

    Thanks Steph!

On this game it seems the only way to hit a decent pay is to be dealt a premium hand, but I am playing for a while and not breaking much of a sweat ....

Thanks Yankees. Yeah their VP is way lacking. Also I know it is a Thursday night but we were the youngest in here by 20 years lol.

Definitely prefer Borgata but gave them a try tonight. 1 -$10 craps and 1-$15 table both empty.

Lots of High limit action :)

Just some final thoughts and figures in case anyone is comparing for a visit. While the property is definitely improved 1000% since the new owners took over the old marina, it has more of a local casino flavor than say Borgata and or Ceasars, both of which give a more polished and Vegas type atmosphere.

Comp wise, I earned $60 dollars in comps tonight on 305 tier credits. I cannot imagine any of my old comps carried over from probably 2015 the last time here for us, so that seems really good compared to some of the other properties especially the comps I earn at Borgata.

Video poker wise, they had many lower denomination machines at the quarter and 50 cent level and many at the nickel and dime level as well, like shockwave and STP machines. I found one non STP or Non Ultimate X multiplay machine at triple and five play, all the rest were either Joker Poker or STP or UX. From what I saw the machine I was on (50 Play) was the only machine with higher than 5 play available. Definitely a locals vibe, which I think they are going after. As mentioned they had One $10 and One $15 Craps tables that seemed empty the few times we passed. (again Thursday Night).

On that note, we were approached by a host while at the machine and given their card and offered a room whenever, so I guess even on dimes, at $25 a deal, it is a bit more play to them than other places, at least from my experience.

They do have some decent restaurants, such as Vic and Anthony's Steakhouse, (Old Homestead in Borgata is better), Lillies Noodle, ( have not tried, but it was empty), and Grotto Italian, (had a good number of patrons tonight at least at the bar), Chart House Seafood Restaurant (have been to this one several times and it is very good) and Michael Patricks Brasserie ( new since my last visit)

They have one VP Bar (the 46 Bar) in the back, and Rush Lounge that had a band playing-

Had $2K as a bankroll for the night and only put in pay $1K and cashed out the $508 so gambling had a $492 Loss. At $25 a hand that is doing good in my book with no dealt quads which on that machine is what is needed to get a decent win.

    Till next time...

Not sure where you were looking, but they have several VP machines that offer higher than 5-play. There is an All-Star Poker machine that has regular non-gimmick games (including DDB, TDB, etc.) for 25 cents, 50 cents, and dollars at up to 10 hands.

Thanks for the TR Tbone...nice to see you are back in action...We had to take a medical related couple of year Vegas/gambling dry spell, and I remember how great it felt to finally be back... That lobster mac looked delicious!!!! A little surprised to see how empty the casino looked....Hopefully it's 'rebuilding'... Would be nice to see all of Atlantic City get back well on its feet. Have fun and good luck on your cruise!

Thanks DRP! I agree on the gambling aspect, while it is never a problem to take care of more important matters first, we realize we like to gamble as relaxation, so you are right it was sooo good to be able to get back to it after a year. I am glad your situation worked itself out as well!

On AC I think it is obviously a rough time of year for them as far as winter and attracting people on a weeknight, but I think the Nugget is doing ok from what I hear as are most of the others currently, with plans on the books for two new casinos to open over the next year, one at the old Taj Mahal, a Hard Rock Casino and something opening at the Revel Site some time. I just hope it is not too much to siphon some off of the current properties causing another downturn.

Hope we both get to Vegas soon, I am just starting to look at booking a trip for later in the Spring, hope you get out there as well!
