I’ve gotten a couple certificates and they include a number of sailings (5-15 days); Alaska, Caribbean, Pacific Coastal and Mexican Riviera. You have a couple of months to book but the cruises are up to a year out I believe. While the cruise itself is free, you have to pay taxes and port fees and the type of cabin you get offered will vary depending on your level of play/status (inside to min-suite) but you can pay the difference for a cabin upgrade.

I just recently got one from Stations for Princess..so I booked it (inside cabin)
So I wanted to upgrade..looked on the web and then price difference betweeen the cheapest interior cabin and the cheapest balcony cabin..$140..done!
I called..got the total run around and finally found out I had to talk SPECIFICALLY to casino dept.
Talked to a guy and he said the upgrade would be $650. I was like uhh..why is it the difference $140 yet I have to pay 4x that? And he said “because you’re not a paying customer! You’ve only paid $120 worth of fees!”
Lol he actually was flustered that he had no idea how to explain why I had to pay 4x the price..I got a kick out of it and it made me appreciate my day job even more.

Sorry don’t know, your host would probably tell you; well above my gambling level probably. The ones I know that have been offered mini suites have qualified for the million point slot tourney.

The best I’ve gotten is a balcony stateroom even in my heavier playing days at V/P. I actually get better free cruise offers from the cruise line casino themselves than I do the Vegas casinos. If you don’t mind an inside stateroom the casino offers are very worth it. I just can’t sail in anything without a balcony. I watched too many ship sinking movies and want a quick place to jump overboard with my life jacket fresh from my cabin closet. Lol

I go on lots of cruises. However “free” cruise offers are a little misleading. Here’s what’s not included (typically) in a free cruise...

Balcony or suite upgrades if you want that
    Airfare or driving to port
    Port parking $15 per day
    Port fees and taxes $100-200
    Gratuities $15 per day
    Shore excursions $50-150 each
    Drink package $60 per day
    Specialty restaurants
    Casino
    On board purchases
    etc...

The above mentioned costs are estimates, vary by cruise line, and may not apply to your cruise. But this is to illustrate a free cruise is far from free.

    Look on the Carnival Legend
Wife and I just got back not too long ago (went over 4th of July)
All in for $3000 for two people for a 7 day Alaska in a premium balcony.
FWIW: carnival doesn’t partner with any casino nor do they give you anything free for being one of their players.

I just booked a norwegian "Free Cruise" for October 27-Nov 3rd. 7 Day Free cruise was $820 for 2 people. That is admin fee, port fees, dining gratuities, and beverage gratuities. When I spoke to norwegian they said they want $5000 actual loss or theo loss on past cruise to offer "free" balcony room.

I called casinos at sea which is Norwegians players club. I had some free offers they had mailed me but the cruise we wanted to take wasn’t on that list. CAS will evaluate your play from your last trip and make an offer for for you for any sailing they have.

Mini-suite is crap on NCL. It simply has a larger bathroom. Not worth the extra money, IMO.

But, I'm doing my second cruise on NCL November 3rd and both have been/will be in the Haven in a 2BDR. We paid straight up for both cruises. I wonder if CAS could give me a better deal in the future. Even $500 off is better than full price!
