    Hello,

I'm new to this message board; I have a quick question regarding comp rooms at the Palazzo. In the past I have never had to pay the resort fees on some comped nights, but when I got my last confirmation it shows I will need to pay the 39 dollar resort fee per night. Does anyone have experience with this recently, must I know pay the resort Fees?

    Thanks

You can request to opt out of the Resort Fee amenities and you won’t be charged.

Every time I’ve been the person at invited guest check in asks me if I want to pay the resort fee and get the amentites or not pay and not get the amentities. I haven’t heard anything about the policy changing, but if you’re worried about it just give them a call and ask. For me, 3 days of WiFi is not worth $120! Also fwiw, you can still use the pool if you don’t pay the resort fee. Just no WiFi or gym. Or I guess local telephone calls ?

I am Grazie gold and have never paid a resort fee. I don't think they give me wifi in the room though. I just use my regular cell phone internet, I don't even bring my laptop with me on vacation but if it were for business that would be different.

Thanks for the responses , hopefully they will just let me opt out of them. Can't wait for the trip, gonna play in a Venetian Deepstack even while I'm there.

PS, there's free wifi on the casino floor (and food court tables!) if you're willing to give them your email address

This is probably too late to help, but at least at Palazzo (I'm not sure about Venetian), just under the desk in your room, you'll find an Ethernet plugin on the wall. If you bring an ethernet cable and a travel router and plug it in there (which you can buy for about the cost of 1 night's resort fee), you'll have instant free WiFi for yourself with the added benefit of it being faster than the hotel WiFi, and more secure (since your personal WiFi connection will be encrypted with a password, while the hotel's WiFi isn't). I have done this many times at Palazzo - it works fine. I have a stay booked at Venetian this weekend, so I'll update this post tomorrow when I checkin to tell everyone if Venetian rooms have a working ethernet connection as well.

Edit: Venetian also has Ethernet on the wall by the desk, at least in my suite.

Just curious if it worked at Venetian. Checking in at Palazzo this Saturday and I want to try the ethernet this time :)

Let me know if the opting out of the resort fee was successful. I keep getting offers for slot tournaments and "free" stays, but I haven't taken them up on it because I did call once and they said they would charge the resort fee, so I decided against it.

Although the wording makes it sound mandatory, you CAN opt out from the resort fee. For some reason the wording in the last year or so changed and it sounds so heavy handed, lol- I actually confirmed with my host it was optional despite many stays there to ensure nothing changed. I always opt out and instead charge the $20 wifi to my room in expectations it will get comped off in the end. Will have to check out that ethernet plugin tip- thanks @newvegasfan!

Yep, it works at Venetian and Palazzo. Just look right under the desk on the wall, and you should see an ethernet outlet. Just make sure to bring your own ethernet cable. There is no authentication when using their Ethernet, so no resort fee required :) .

If you’re paying for your room, I don’t think you have a choice. If you’re comped up front either through a host or a promotional offer, you have the option to pay it or not....in fact they must store your preference, because the last few times at Palazzo they haven’t even asked...they just opted me out. I’ve never paid a resort fee at Palazzo or Venetian when I’ve been there on a comp, out of maybe 20 stays.

It sounds like you earned your comp for the stay during your trip but initially checked in as a paid guest. That’s why you were initially charged the resort fee.

I just got back from Palazzo and was not able to opt out the resort fees. I was book through a host. :( The ethernet didn't work either. I am not sure if it is my router. I brought two routers but I didn't have the ethernet adaptor for my macbook pro so I am not sure if it was a network issue or my routers.

I'm currently sitting at the Palazzo....made a last minute trip for the VGK game. I couldn't get the ethernet working this time either. As of the day I wrote that (May 12), it did work and had worked for at least 3 years prior to that on every trip and every room I was in. I hope it wasn't my post that got it shutoff, but the timing does seem suspicious. Maybe an employee of Palazzo reads this forum, but I can't imagine an oversight that was this big that has lasted for as long as it did got knocked off after one mention of it on a forum.

I just begrudgingly paid $19.95 for it, so whatever happened, they appear to have changed it in the last 3 weeks. I even tried using the ethernet connection through a VPN but that didn't work either. The port is active - my router is still lighting up when I connect to it, and when connected to my router, I could still get Facebook messenger messages. But it appears that they've put some sort of block on web traffic.

But I still didn't pay the resort fee when I checked in (this was on a promotion, not even through a host), so I don't know why they made you pay that.
