I think it just depends on who is checking you in. My router connected as well but was no internet connection. I will try to connect to my lap top and see if there was any authentication required next time I am there. :)

I was just there from May 31 - June 4, comped from my host. Upon check in, the gentleman asked if I wanted to pay for the resort fees and use those services, or deny them and not be charged.

Of course I denied them and did not get charged $45 a night for the four nights I was there.

So it looks like a YMMV thing.

I just booked another trip for Jan, 2 night comp'ed. My host said that I can opt out the resort fees when I check in. I will see how it goes this time.

I was there two weeks ago. I am platinum and they always give me a code for a comp day of internet usage. When my code didn t work I went to the VIP to get the new one. A very rude woman standing next to the desk attendant said.."We don't give comped internet anymore." The attendant called another desk who told her they just canceled all comp codes. The woman next to her said " I told you we no longer give comp codes, you will have to pay for 24 hours" I said I only needed it a couple hours and she just shrugged.

The attendant waited for her to leave then said that she would charge me and comp it off. First they reduced the VIP lounge, lowered their offers, took away the website now this.....definitely time to branch out. Such a shame that I have a wonderful host that I will miss.

    Too many to count

Just a heads up, I was just at Palazzo last weekend again, and the Ethernet connection in my room was active. So in a nutshell I have had 1 trip where it didn’t work, and all the rest it did work (8 trips in the last year, it worked 7 times). Your mileage may vary, but it’s always a good idea to bring an ethernet cable and travel router when at Venetian/Palazzo and you may well have free, unfettered internet access through the ethernet port on the wall near the desk.

With regard to the website, I asked about it at the players club when I was there and was told that they are switching to a whole new software system, which is why the website is down. They didn’t have an ETA for the new site, but they are working on it and it appears that the new tracking system is already running. One annoying thing is that the new system doesn’t show the “countdown” to the next point as it used to. But, for the main game I play, I used to earn almost no points. This time I earned about $600 in points, where before I’d have been lucky to earn $60 for the same amount of play. Perhaps they realized they’ve been too stingy in the past, and are now making up for it. So for me, the new system has been great so far, though the website being offline is quite annoying. Again, your mileage may vary based on what game(s) you play.
