My trip is in 33 days and we are suppose to stay at the park mgm which does not even have date set to reopen. With the virus exploding I am in serious doubt they will even do so. Does anyone know what will happen if the hotel does not open? I have 4 comp days with freeplay and room credit. If they just cancel and offer nothing then I am obviously not going back to vegas. Thanks.

I had a reservation for a few weeks ago. A host called and offered to book me at Bellagio. Another person I was traveling with didn’t get a call so she called the reservation number and was offered a rebook at another property.

My guess is that ParkMGM is being held back for use by hockey teams if the NHL make Las Vegas a hub city.

Seems pretty likely right now that both NHL hub cities will be in Canada, although if they exempt pro hockey players from the quarantine act I will be knocking on the door of my local political leader's office (wearing a mask, of course) and letting him know that the general public should be afforded the same common-sense precautions as would be granted to to those players - such as limiting the "quarantine bubble" to the residence and place of employment, provided the place of employment involves little interaction with other employees. Living under a rock for 14 days is a bit overkill.

Another heads up. We just got cancelled again for the Park. It will now be opening at the end of august but I would not hold my breath. We were really looking forward to staying there and eating at best friends and eately. Ahh well.

From what I've seen and heard, they're being incredibly careful. Just as with the NBA, there's a bubble in place where only staff and players are allowed to shift between their hotels and the arenas, and even then interaction is limited. At the risk of editorializing, having the opportunity to interact with people who are regularly tested and staying within the same space is probably better than being told to stay home by yourself; isolation might possibly be better for physical health, but not great for mental health, so if you can be around people you can trust, that's great.

I feel like a lot of that opening talk hinged on Vegas being an NHL hub city, which never actually happened. Park would have been the ideal hotel for some of the teams

We got moved to the mgm in a 2 bedroom marquis suite so I cannot complain. I am sad that eately is not open. Right now at lunch on a tuesday there are barely any restaurants open. This is kinda sad.

Stayed in one last july with the kids and thought it was a great suite. Kids enjoyed having a pool table ... only draw back is the long walk to the end of the hallway... especially after a few too many tequila shots. Lol.

At the aria right now with the paris and mgm grand next. Right now the casinos are not doing too bad. There is an obvious loss of people meandering but they are doing good slot play. Table play has been cut down a ton though and there is no social distancing there. The casinos are pretty strict on masks. We have seen a few people try to get cute by wearing it on their chins but they get reprimanded pretty quickly. Lunch is extremely limited on choices and even at dinner many aces are not open. Getting food near midnight was so bad we ate at taco bell. We did drive down to Silverton casino as I needed sandals and they were very crowded with lots of table play. Quite surprising. The biggest annoyance is the younger crowd renting scooters and zipping through casinos. The casinos are pretty tight on slots too. Just a small update.

What do you mean by no social distancing? I've found that Aria has been practically dead, and between here, MGM Grand, Paris, and Mandalay Bay, it's been almost impossible to get a seat at a blackjack table if it's even remotely busy. Only 3 spots at BJ, 6 at craps, and a few at most at roulette. There was literally not a single person at Lift Bar today.

Agreed that lunch is tough these days. Aria used to be one of the best for daytime dining, but I think now it's just Javier's, Salt & Ivy, and Burger Lounge.

I mean at the tables everyone is pretty close to each other. You are right at the tables here but Silverton had quite a few tables going. We switch to paris today and are going to hit some off strip casinos to see how they are doing. Most restaurants for dinner close at 10pm.

Final note as we leave tomorrow. The casinos were rocking over the weekend. At the paris every table game was open. The streets were packed and the bellagio fountains were crowded. I swear the line for fat Tuesdays drinks had 50 people in it. The biggest disappointment was the food. Choices were lacking and the food quality at nearly every restaurant we ate at was down.

I haven’t been back to Vegas yet but I’ve noticed this across the board at every restaurant I’ve been to though. Service is lacking and/or the food is subpar. Menus are being limited to boot. I can’t really say that many of my meals have been worth it. I think the unemployment bump has hurt on the service side and perhaps the food quality too. Supply chain issues and restaurants inability to predict and adjust supply orders have also contributed I suspect. Restaurants are in a tough spot. Obviously the shut downs have hurt them, but many of them are continuing damage with the product they’re putting out as well. I’m looking at it as trying to help them out during a tough time, but that will only go so far.

I had a trip planned for Park MGM in two weeks and I just got call from a hot and she booked me at Bellagio... I was worried it would be NYNY; I'll take Bellagio!

I was out in Vegas about 4 weeks ago, at Caesar's Palace, and I'll be honest, they were taking it very seriously. They had thermal cameras at check-in (VIP check in just had someone with a digital thermometer), there was hand sanitizer everywhere, 99% of people were wearing masks, and the security staff there were constantly around, and would ask people to put on their masks, or make sure it was covering their nose. I got back to Boston, quarantined for 2 weeks, and I've been fine.

I was honestly impressed with how well Caesars was handling it, and I've heard MGM is taking it seriously as well.
