Rating the restaurants I ate at Downtown 9/9-9/12

What is it? I’ve honestly only seen it mentioned on this forum. Is it like French fries and gravy or something? ( I may be totally wrong, but that’s what I picture in my head when I see poutine.

 

French fries, cheese curds and gravy.

 

Thanks! Looks different. I like cheese curd and it’s pretty big where I live too. They sell it everywhere, but that’s an odd combination. I like all 3 things individually, so I don’t see why I wouldn’t like it. Is it a Canadian thing?

 

Holsteins used to have pretty good poutine (in my non-Canadian opinion). I tried the version at public house in V/P and did not like it.

 

Sadly, I think Holstein took if off their menu.

 

Oh great that was the only place I think I was going to try.

I'm not going to Canada to try poutine.

I'm going to look for a place here to try it.

 

Don't bother with Gordon Ramsay's Burger. It's a Mushroom Poutine and I didn't like it.
Downtown there is Smoke's Poutinerie. It's a chain and I'm not a fan of it either.
Sorry, I only have a don't list for poutine in Vegas.

 

Does anyone have a Yes list for Poutine?

I need to try poutine that is real. Meaning it is what poutine is suppose to taste like.

Anyone can make something and call it poutine but I want to try real poutine without going to Canada.

 

I had oxtail poutine at Public House at the Venetian years ago. I remember it being tasty but I don’t know how authentic it was.

TBH we usually make our own at home. Except for on our visit to Toronto finding good poutine in the wile is rare. It's the cheese curds, they're just not the same. (Wisconsin could be decent (they have good curds) but I've never tried it there)

 

yea not going to happen anytime soon.

 

I’ve had regular fried curds in Green Bay. They were extra squeaky. We had plenty of beer and whiskey prior to eating so my judgement may not be the best.
