Recent Changes to Sports Bar / Chandelier Drink Ticket Policy?

Judging from a few recent TRs, it sounds like there have been some changes within the last couple of weeks to Cosmo's drink ticket system at the Sports Bar and Chandelier, namely that drink tickets are now valid strictly for only 2 hours. Can anyone else confirm that this is, in fact, the case? There was mention that drink tickets are now printed with an expiration date/time, but I didn't see that in the drink ticket photos that @IrishDave posted in his TR, although those tickets might have been printed just prior to the changeover.

While drink tickets have technically been valid for only 2 hours all along, many of us were accustomed to the bartenders accepting them up to 24 hours after the date/time they were issued, and the ticket scanner would likewise accept the tickets as valid. Additionally, sometimes a bartender would just check a ticket's date and time and not necessarily scan it, so it seems that every bartender handled it a little differently. If this new policy has been implemented, I'm guessing that there's now a more uniform policy that must be observed by all bartenders, and perhaps it's now policy that every ticket redeemed must be scanned.

I'll miss the days of being able to hoard drink tickets from a late night at Chandelier and use them the next day, but I can certainly see the reasoning behind management's decision to make drink ticket redemption a little more consistent and in line with the original intent of a 2 hour time limit. Hopefully, there are no plans to change the policy of giving players at the Sports Bar and Chandelier their first drink comped upfront, or no changes to the frequency at which drink tickets are issued. And, hopefully multiple, valid drink tickets can still be used to "upsize" to a premium drink. If that's the case, I'm sure Chandelier will still remain my personal favorite spot for bartop VP in Las Vegas!

@Pleasemum said they were strictly enforcing it. They probably were seeing leaking from delayed ticket usage...

Just returned from Cosmo - we have always received a first drink comped and this continued throughout the trip. Tickets were a different story - the policy changed within our trip.

The drink tickets are a two hour expiry and even if the bartender wanted to be lenient the ticket scanner will reject them. Our 2 tickets only expired by a few minutes and we ordered a couple of drinks and we had to pay. We had not been given any heads up at the time we played earlier that things have changed. The next day we shared the new policy with one of the bartenders only because we were leaving the bar and I had said to my husband that it was not worth keeping the tickets - she said keep them for later and I told her that her system will not accept them later as we would not be back within the two hours. This was new news to her.

It's actually been the policy for quite a while. I went back to some pics for three years ago and the tickets had the time printed on them and said valid for two hours. It's just enforcement that's been spotty. I have seen bartenders refuse old tickets before, but it seemed like it was up to the bartender, I guess they just changed the programming in the scanner.

This statement is correct. While the tickets always have stated a two hour window to use, the system itself could only expire a ticket after 24 hours.
That certainly was never our intent when we rolled out the program, as the tickets are intended to be used while the person is gaming.

The system provider had an enhancement/upgrade to the application and the tickets can now expire accurately to whatever duration we want (and you’ll see more times printed on the ticket clearly indicating the time).

We also now have the ability to do marketing programs such as a ticket can print out if a specific hand is hit. We don’t have any short term plans for that yet, but we will use it at some point. Something like a ticket will print in July if you get 4 of a kind - 7’s as an example. And we would do a drawing or giveaway. In August, the “trigger hand” could change to 8’s etc....

Personally, I think this is more than fair, there's no other place I know of that you can come back even 10 mins later and get a drink. Being able to use two or three tickets to get a premium drink along with decent pay tables are the biggest reasons I enjoy playing bar tops at Cosmo over anywhere else. I wish you just gave us a ticket for the first drink so I could wait for the next ticket to get Lagavulin!!

This could be really dangerous for me.....

We've always known the policy to be 2 hours but the scanners accepted the tickets and therefore the practice and the policy were not in sync creating an understanding of something different than the original intent.

It's clearer now for us - but I think it's in the communication to patrons and staff that is important.

I too think its fair and I don't have a problem with it as I play but I still think it's important to be clear in the communication.

The promotions sound like a great add to a system I already enjoy. A free drink ticket every time we miss our 4 to the royal draws would be the ultimate pain reducer!

Thanks for the information, Kevin. As I and others have already mentioned, even with a 2 hour time limit (which was always the intent from the beginning), the drink ticket system is still is more than fair. The ability to cash in multiple tickets for an upgraded drink is a luxury that most other properties don’t offer, and needless to say, is something that we really appreciate.

Kevin, do you have any word on whether drink tickets will continue to have a $16 redemption value, or if any changes are planned to limit redeeming multiple (valid) tickets for premium drinks? I’m guessing that this is more of a call for the food & beverage department, although I’m sure there’s some crossover when it comes to drinks comped on account of gaming activity.

Yes...we’re listening! As always, thanks for keeping us in the loop, Kevin!

There are no plans to change our current pricing or multi ticket practices. Should we discover any blatant abuses, my statement is always subject to change.
I believe when we first rolled out the program the ticket limit was $15.00. But somewhere along the line, drink prices for commonly ordered beverages increased $1.00, making it not possible to get many drinks with a ticket. That obviously wasn’t fair, so we increased the value a ticket $1.00 as well.

Interesting. I wouldn't mind getting something like $20 FP (16X at quarters) for hitting a specified quad. Only costs you about 0.28% in return.

And if I knew you were tinkering around with the bartops, I also would have put a word in for adding Deuces Wild Double Double Bonus. It's basically playing Deuces Wild without the tilting frustration of hitting a natural quad. I would prefer the 20/10/8 paytable at least though.

I checked a few unused drink tickets I still have from my trip in September 2018, and they were valued at $15. At that point, I remember that menu drinks were $17 (which I believe is the current price), so those still required two tickets, however some of the intermediate drinks like the Verbena and other mixed drinks were still $15 and could be acquired as an upfront comp or with a single drink ticket.

By the time I returned in January 2019, the drink ticket value had increased to $16, however the bartenders mentioned that in early January, many of the non-basic drinks, including the Verbena, had increased in price to $17. As such, drinks that were previously available as an upfront comp or for a single ticket now require two tickets, despite the increased drink ticket value. It's too bad that this nominal $1 difference still exists, and that guests can't just pay the $1 difference instead of shelling out a second drink ticket. Nonetheless, the system is still great overall, and I usually end up with more tickets than I can use anyway!

Could the expiration be something more reasonable like 4 hours if the deadline is truly strictly enforced? I mean, the new changes can have unintended consequences. I’ll play to earn 2 tickets, stop playing while I drink, and resume playing after finishing my drink. For me the tickets printout too fast. Not sure I could use 6 tickets in a 2 hour period. But if they expire, then I gotta force slow my accrual rate.

Are the tickets tied to a player in that you can tell if someone has redeemed a ticket? It might just be coincidence. But I’ve had cases where right after the bartender scanned my drink ticket another popped out of the machine.

How about a free drink every time we get a dealt 2-4-6-8-10? That's when we need it!
