Looks like almost every hotel on the Strip is getting in on the act.

I don't have an issue with the fees per se. However, if they're unavoidable then they really should be considered part of the base room rate and not listed separately. This allows hotels to falsely advertise rates knowing full well that the customer is actually paying significantly higher rates to stay there.

My assumption is that they do include these when they report average room revenue per night.

The hotels have said they separate the resort fee from the room rate so they can compete with 3rd party sites, such as hotels.com which split the room rate from their service charge which is added at the end.

I hate the resort fees, because even with comped room offers, I usually have to pay them. I realize the room I’m staying at is worth it, but it’s no longer a truly free room.

However, I’ll continue to pay them because I Love Vegas and will pay the price to keep coming. I can still gripe and grumble though. Sigh.

That's the rub, you wither pay them or not go.

Like you I choose to pay them, I just factor them into the price of my room before booking.

That's higher than the rate for a room at several resorts.

    Just insane.

It’s amazing cause lots of the low /mid tier places used to charge a night(midweek) what the resort fee is now

Yup, this is a new change for V/P because in December it was $39.

I honestly think it is going to increase to a point where it's going to be larger for a resort fee than it is for a room rate. CC is already like that ($30 resort fee against a $24 base Internet room) so the others would follow suit as well.

I bet that's true. Usually if you booked before they changed, they have to honor the lower resort fee.

Yup it's really expensive. If you've booked before the increase you should be able to retain the fee at $39 a night.

Can these at least be comped off on the back end based on play? I really don't care that's its 45 bucks, more so the fact that everyone keeps raising it without providing any additional services or perks

Yes, they can be removed if your play is high enough to back-comp it.

I guess it's not just in Vegas. I am booking a few nights to take my kids to Niagra Falls over Spring Break on the NY side. The Sheraton rate is $83 a night and the taxes and fees are an additional $40. Seems crazy to me but I guess it is what it is.
