@Royal Flusher , was thinking about my last trip to Vegas, Dec. 2019, when you graciously hid one of your cards for me at Mandalay Bay. That morning, I felt like a kid in a candy store. I then learned of your lovely bride’s passing. My deepest condolences to you and your family.

I appreciate the joy, details, and hotel camping tips you’ve shared via your reports. I am delighted to once again read your Vegas experiences. Thank you!

Just got caught up with all of this. I decided early on to read until the end prior to replying. I'm really glad I did because it all seemed like one story that was a full journey rather than parts.

And what a journey it was. Wins, losses, tough-as-nails sausage and a good picture about how we all deal with loss. Not only the loss of loved ones but the loss of what many of us USED to love about Las Vegas, how it's going away (and never coming back) and how we have to adapt and keep moving forward and finding new things. Probably not things that we love as much as what's lost, but still things that we can like tolerably which make life, at least, somewhat OK.

You're the best sir. And I'm glad you did this. I hope you find peace as you move forward and that you have an improving 2024.

Just caught back up to this. Glad you went back to the place you and Karen loved. I'm sure it's hard at times, but we all know that she would want you to enjoy yourself. Thanks for taking us along as well!

 

I just asked @bebe about you earlier today! Glad you posted, a great way to pay tribute to a great lady. Oh, and an excellent choice on the whiskey

 

@Royal Flusher I am so sorry for your loss, nothing I say can change anything but know that I personally loved reading about the adventures of you and the Karen (Quad Queen). I am happy you are able to still do something that both of you loved so much.

 

I'm sorry to hear how much Karen was looking forward to the eclipse. That was certainly a perfect moment to honor her memory.

Looking forward on you digging into the past. I wasn't old enough to gamble in 1997!

 

Thank you for that VERY moving post. Watching your process through all of this reminds me that grief is not a straight line, it's a child's scribble.

But reading out the eclipse, the darkness and the return of the light was beautiful.

 

I’m enjoying your vintage report a lot Flusher. Our first Vegas wasn’t until the early 2000s. Thanks for posting.
