Rycelover spends Xmas in Prague and Vienna 12/19-12/27

Eat eat eat La Veranda, a Michelin reviewed small Italian Restaurant in Old Town





Marinated salmon in spices and citrus, yuzu gel and cucumber



Prawns, mango, apple, and avocado



Beef flank steak, potato purée, Brussels sprouts (or as my friend F called it - “baby cabbages”), truffle glaze with mushrooms, and roasted bone marrow.



Total damage was a smidge over $60 (including a glass of prosecco and bottle of table water). Not bad at all.

 

After doing some work (copy & paste) we headed down stairs for some eat eat eat at the complementary breakfast... having been used to a comped breakfast from Best Western, I wasn’t expecting much ...

The meat was so very tender and flavorful

 

Afternoon snack - hot chocolate and mango gelato

 

Inside the hotel (maximilian) there is an “Honesty Bar” where drinks, including top shelf alcohol is all self-serve.

There is no staff.

You pay for items by charging to your room by writing what you’ve consumed down on a pad, with you name and room number.

It’s on an honor system, hence the name of the bar.

Tea and coffee are free.

 

Around town there are various places where you can get a Thai massage but one interesting twist is that you can pay to sit on a bench and soak your feet in a fish tank and get nibbled by small tiny fish

 

Now this was weird ... there’s a sex museum here and this was on display

I have no idea what’s going on here...

 

Rented a car and drove south to Chesky Krumlov, a small old village 90 Miles outside of Prague
