So we were in Reno this weekend and we played at GSR all day (slots with some VP) and emailed a host curious to find out our theo for the day (we played close to $15k coin-in) Here's her response, also she added "You played for 6:02 hours with an average bet of $4.50" LOL, very helpful.
At the same property I've had hosts give me two different answers. One wouldn't tell me and the other straight up gave it. And another property they'd only give me time and average bet. Also this place did machines by time on device too, they wouldn't give me a solid coin in number. But yet in the year end win/loss...coin in given. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not sure why they do that.....Venetian/Palazzo is similar that some of the hosts will only release average bet and total hours. Others I've had no issue getting numbers. My best guess as to why is maybe you can't calculate being over/under comped without THEO?
That could very well be..however when I used to play a lot at JANugget in Reno, my host told me they didn't go by theo, but rather your coin in and actual win/loss...it could very well be the same at GSR...as my host at nugget said they were similar (this was 3 years ago though) Stupid way to do it because actual win/loss just is based on luck...theo is cold hard numbers you cant change
True, but THEO can mean comps for everyone. Plus THEO can be based on a lot of luck too if you just keep regurgitating the play through. Possible some properties could be moving to only giving comps for actual losses. Sadly, that would STILL mean I'd be comped every trip. I just find the one at Venetian Palazzo SO curious as the Loyalty card points and tier levels are entirely based off THEO, so it's easy enough to calculate yourself off points earned. Not sure why the number is seemingly closely held when accessible anyway in many cases.
It's all super duper double secret situation.. Idiots. Once in a while I ran into that too. Won't give you your own info give me a break. Idiots..
I have run into that more often at properties I visit around the country. More and more regional casinos want to only comp you based on actual losses. In other words, if your a winner pay for your own stuff, you got our money. We don't care how much coin you played thru our slots / VP machines. Those are properties I don't want to have a relationship with since they will always nickle and dime you for comps. They also want to convince their customers that constant losing is entertainment.
Hey Now! At the IP (Boyds) in Biloxi, you have to use your slot points up before they will give out discretionary comps for food or Spa. Backend room comps are no problem though....
Depending on how they comp exactly, this can be better for certain players. Generally I think a blend of theo and actual loss is the best idea for a casino. Pure theo will upset those that lose their ass due to bad luck and get shitty comps in return because they had a bad coin-in amount on the amount they lost.
To update this thread.. Just got May mailer from Casino... 3 nights in a suite + $275 FSP (valid 2X in may) + $50 dining credit This may be one of the best offers I've seen a reno Casino offer..and I think I only put in ~$15k coin-in
Nice, love when the "best offer I've seen" mailings show up, gets me excited thinking about booking the next trip!! Hope you book it in!
The Reno casinos mostly go by total loss now versus theo, so that may be why. GSR does it by loss and how often you go. Leave there ahead even with a ton of coin in and watch for some insulting offers. Only thing is they will get better after a few months of not coming back- I'm finally getting some freeplay and food money from my July trip where I lost maybe $100 there after playing 8 hours. Peppermill is the worst for this, I have won my last three times there and can't even get a comped room on a weekday. Atlantis does a combination of theo and loss- no matter happens what I'm at least always able to get 3 or 4 nights comped in an upgraded room and some freeplay. I'm thinking next time I'm at any of these I'm going to pull my card out if I'm playing a slot and hit a bonus so it throws off my stats.
One day. Ahh, I DID not know that...weird, as we only lost $500 in that day. So if they're literally going to give me 50% back in freeplay, I'LL TAKE IT! However, KNOWING that, I will DEFINITELY pull my card out when I bonus, and if I get a dealt quad at video poker.
Yeah, only reason I know that (I'm not a local) is based on my past trips and how my offers looked based on how I did and talking to a local there, then it all made sense. I did not think about pulling my card on a dealt quad, it won't register the win until you hit the button so that should actually work, good idea!
I have experienced this also from several local casinos that I would visit on my travels. As soon as I started leaving up consistently my offers started drying up, even though all the other variables were consistent. I didn't change anything - I just started getting lucky. And we're not talking big up - maybe $100 or $200 at places where I mostly played $5 reels. Even though I would also play my own money also, it was the FP mailers that were getting me to think to go there, so now that I don't get them or hardly any money in the offer I just don't bother going. But I guess they assume that people who win have money burning a hole in their pockets so they'll come play anyway.
Same here. None of my immediate locals do this yet, but there are at least two that I call "far away" locals here in Arizona that do that. One of them went from sending me $80 freeplay, food money, and a free suite on weekdays/rooms on weekends from a losing trip, to $10 freeplay and a $69 "special rate" on a regular room on weekdays after I won a jackpot there last trip, even though I cycled $6500 and made a higher tier level. Another sends me $10 in freeplay after cycling $4000 coin-in but coming home $300 ahead. I get this is nice for those bad losing trips where you can't cycle enough to get good offers, but just because I win once doesn't mean I'll come back and pay for a hotel room in a casino and enjoy my $10 freeplay.
The offers that they send out here are jokes. I don't even bother anymore, except for Harrah's bc I can use the points in Vegas or it's for a 7* event of some sort. All about the bottom line for them, it's ridiculous. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
