Anyone know if there are any left? Some friends I served in the Navy with are going to be in Vegas for a reunion in late April and we want to play "just like old times" when we used to visit 25 years ago.

Upstairs at The D which is downtown. There's also one at MGM Grand at the new Level Up Lounge.

I've heard the level up lounge doesn't comp drinks. I haven't confirmed though. So if you wanted comped booze with the derby, I would go to D.

It will probably be one of those play for 5-10 minutes things so probably not worth going downtown for but you bring up a good point

They comped my jack about two weeks ago. But of course YMMV. Perhaps that's more while you're playing the carnival games?(Non-gambling)

I think that’s the new style which I like a lot less. Played at Venetian last trip

Does that horse race game at Cosmo function like a slot machine? Meaning the RNG determines the result?

Also last time I was at MGM they moved the machine back to the casino floor kinda near the buffet.

Sorry no disrespect but I giggled over this! As opposed the the little fake horses running and winning with little tiny AI jockeys?

Yeah it is RNG but not like a slot as in when you hit the button it stops...

Yep, it's RNG determined. It picks the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners before each race. Fortune Cup is from Konami, but Alfastreet has one out called "Royal Derby". It actually had a flaw that when the race started, it had a screen that would show you the winner right from the top.

The one thing I learned about this is that despite what happens to the little figures on the fake racetrack, the outcome is still determined by the RNG. The Alfastreet game had the horse on a magnetic track with a gear that operated the legs of the horse moving. If that gear messed up or the magnet didn't grab the horse right, it could still win according to the rules of the game.

Did that one have little remote cameras in the bubble?

I loved that game, played it Caesars Windsor when it was Casino Windsor. They had two levels of betting, one around the bubble and an "upper deck"
