    Heading to Vegas next week! Staying at SkyLofts (again) at MGM since it is my wife’s birthday. Looking forward to Baccarat and Pai Gow poker (our favs). I lucked out today and got an email from Cosmo for free tix to see Amy Schumer on Saturday night. I accepted! Anybody see her live before?

    I will do my best to give pre and post trip summary of our trip. SkyLofts is one of our favorite places to stay (the steam shower in the room is reason enough to stay here). Also hope to dine in the mansion a couple of times.

    So, practicing baccarat on wizard of odds site tonight. I like to make things automatic, cause I’m usually pretty lit while I’m playing. Need to make it second nature. Also practicing Pai Gow on my iPhone app. Feeling ready!

    I saw Amy Schumer a few years ago and I enjoyed it. Crass but funny. She was performing in AC and I was sitting among some older women who didn't enjoy her.

    Today is "bankroll day". Three tier strategy here:
    * Cash
    * Markers
    * ATM card

    I don't like taking everything in cash (just feels too risky). This used to be a cash flow issue for me, but then I got an ATM card where I can set my own daily withdraw limit and get reimbursed for the ATM fees. I've always wondered why they don't have more access to banks on the strip (I guess that's bad form? Maybe a money laundering concern?) Only catch with the card is the ATM machines have a max of $3K per withdraw - so sometimes that's a hassle. Also, the 'ATM day' resets at midnight Eastern time - so the daily limit restarts at 9 pm Vegas time.

    So - off to the bank to get the cash and I'll be transferring funds into the account for the ATM card.

    Can I ask which bank this ATM card is with? I've been finding getting cash to carry has become more and more of a hassle. A card like this would work well for me.

    It's just a real estate thing. Having a branch on the Strip would be a wasted expense for most retail banks, because it's not like someone is wandering in to get a mortgage or open a savings account, and the casinos would rather contract out for their own ATMs because they earn money. Your best bet for avoiding ATM fees is to go into one of the ubiquitous drugstores which have co-branding agreements with major banks. I think Santander, for example, is partnered with CVS, and I believe Citi is partnered with Walgreens.

    Have fun, excited to hear more!

    Agreed in the carafes of juices, i hit whole foods today for something tantamount which was $7 and i found myself complaining. $50 or whatever it is sounds outrageous but then again, it's Vegas so people will pay it lol

    When we go to Vegas - part of the fun is not having a schedule. Just wandering from Casino to Casino. Eat when you’re hungry. Switch Casinos when things aren’t going your way. Always, always drink. However, as you all know - things can get booked pretty quickly. So I do set up a couple of things ahead of time to be sure we aren’t left wanting to get into something we can’t.

    I mentioned before that Cosmo sent me an email about Amy Schumer, so that’s set. I called my host and had her book Stevie Wonder and Jim Jeffries as well. Shaping up to be a nice trip. Also had host arrange a couple of Birthday surprises for the wife! Set up some massages too. However - I’m keeping one day/night completely unscheduled.

    Stevie Wonder is at the Park Theater, so I’m thinking of trying Bavette’s Steak for dinner. Anyone been there yet?

    I went a couple weeks ago, and it was excellent. I can't speak to the steaks, but the crab cakes and fried chicken were amazing. Only warning is that their portions are huge -- my friend and I ordered what we thought was a normal amount of food, and still wound up with a couple days worth of leftovers (which presumably you're not taking into the concert).

    Ok - almost here. Flight leaves tomorrow night. This weekend we had our traditional “shopping before Vegas” weekend. Wifey likes to get new outfits for Vegas. Lol. So do I. Don’t think I’ll be super productive at work tomorrow!

    Hope this is me!

    A lot of online only banks have the rebate your ATM fees benefit, since they have no brick and mortar branches for you to get your money. Like Ally.
