Started today with some early VP at Vue. Then went for a walk over to Donut Bar for a quick breakfast and then right back to Vue for more VP. It’s been a steady stream of quads today (12 so far). No aces but a few little ones and lots 5-k progressive. Plus the one SF I posted earlier. All in all up about $250 today on VP. So many teases with the RF, I stopped taking pics.

I couldn’t pull the trigger on the Texas/OU game. Was so tempted to take the over but I have a horrible track record taking overs >70. I’ll count my indecision as a win. After OU won, I threw $100 on OSU -15.5 hoping they’ll be running it up later. Also couldn’t decide on the SEC game but I do have Alabama at various points on a few parlays so hoping they win. All of my parlays are still in action.

Keep waiting for the wheels to fall off but still doing well. Grabbed a quick lunch at the D Grill to soak up some alcohol and right back to the VP.

The one thing I learned today was why Texas hasn’t floated into the gulf, courtesy of someone who wasn’t enjoying the game at all this morning.

Good luck on your sports bets! VP seems to be treating you well. Seeing your Donut Bar pic reminds me we’d like to try it. Maybe this will be the trip to do it! Looks so good!

After 3 days, I am still unbelievably even. I’m starting to think these small updates to the TR are my good luck charm. I’m looking forward to catching up on everyone else’s TRs when I get home. I don’t think I’ve ever had a trip like this where there have been no big swings either way, just able to play all day and keep the drinks flowing.

I played a ton of VP again yesterday. Hit quad #20 for the day at the end of the Big 10 game. Buckeyes made it interesting but they covered. The football games (and everyone I’ve talked to at the bar) this weekend have been great. Here were my quad totals for day 3, sadly the Aces were nowhere to be found (twos-1,threes-4,fours-1,fives-2,sixes-3,sevens-1,eights-2,jacks-2,kings-4).

RF progressive was over $1300 when I went to bed, hope it’s still there this morning.

After the Ohio State game, I realized I hadn’t set foot outside the D since getting my donut for breakfast. Wandered out in search of dinner and ended up at Nacho Daddy. Found a seat at the bar and had bbq chicken nachos, another beer, and caught the end of the Golden Knights game. Nacho Daddy was packed last night.

After dinner I stumbled down to the Golden Gate to try some slots. Hit one small bonus on Crazy Money 2 then dumped $200 in Walking Dead without a single feature or bonus. Thankfully, instead of chasing I went to bed slightly ahead for the day.

It was pretty chilly last night, no idea how all that “talent” can hang out on Fremont street without any clothes on.

Moving a little slow this morning but ready for my last day. So many close calls on that elusive RF yesterday. I’ve got one little 5 team $20 teaser still in play. Need the Rams -4.5 and Niners +16.5, I told my wife last night that I bet the Rams cover just so our Niners can let us down again. I sure hope I’m wrong.

Off to tackle Day 4 and figure out what games to bet today.

Gambling totals for day 3. No idea what my coin in was, I forgot to check my points before heading up last night.
    VP +$285
    Buckeyes +$90
    Slots -$200
    Parlays -$60
    Total +$115

Back at it. Looks like someone just hit the RF. On the bright side, no taxes at the moment for another.

Thanks for your report, looks like a great trip.
Related, those Fremont Street "Babies" are truly demented, even by downtown standards.

As expected, I gave a little back on Day 4 and unfortunately when I only needed our Niners to be mildly disappointing (+16.5), they couldn’t even manage that. I wasn’t able to find the Royal Flush this trip but it certainly wasn’t due to a lack of effort.

The day started early around 6:30am back at Vue bar. It was much slower in the morning but picked up for the Seahawks and Steelers games later in the day. April and Ron stopped by to say hello, which was really nice. At some point I put $100 on the Chiefs, looking back I’m not sure why. I think sometimes when none of the games look good, I toss money on who I want to win rather than trying to be more objective (see almost every Pac12 bowl game ever).

Anyway, I played VP at Vue nearly all day sitting at the end of the bar. At around 4pm, I realized I should probably eat something and went over to the D grill for a quick sandwich. Not sure if it was the hunger or the alcohol but the sandwich was fantastic. Took a quick break after eating then it was right back to Vue to watch the Chargers and Steelers, what a fun game to watch.

Gambling wise, got tons of play on VP for my money. The quads weren’t as frequent as yesterday and I just couldn’t find the straight flush. Progressive on the SF hit for over $180 just before I got food. Quad count for day 4 was 10, and again the Aces did not show. (Threes-3,fours-1,fives-2, sixes-1,queens-1,kings-2)

Threw a $100 in Crazy Money 2 on the way back to the room and hit a couple really small bonuses and then cashed out even.

    Gambling for day 3

    VP -300
    Chiefs -100
    Parlay -20
    Slots $0
    Total -420

Puts me slightly down for the trip but I’m happy to be going home with over 90% of the bankroll. Next trip isn’t scheduled until March 20-25 for some college basketball but we’ll see what happens. Somewhere in the midst of yesterday, I also made dinner/hotel reservations in Napa for a quick overnight trip next Saturday to thank my wife for letting me be a bum this weekend. Will post a summary after I get home but for now it’s back to the airport and reality.

    Thanks for following along.

Well I guess a week late isn’t too bad, but I wanted to post a wrap up to have it all in one place. Overall, for four days of gambling, I ended up down $275. Considering the free rooms, food, drinks, etc. I consider it a positive result. Ended up with exactly 50 quads over the 4 days, with only one set of aces and no 9/10s. It always amazes me that when I play a ton of video poker for several days and have a few dozen quads there usually seems to be a number or two that didn’t show up. Looking back at the numbers and seeing how it impacted my overall results is a big part of the enjoyment for me. Here are the quad results.

    Aces (1)
    Twos (5)
    Threes (8)
    Fours (3)
    Fives (4)
    Sixes (7)
    Sevens (1)
    Eights (6)
    Nines (0)
    Tens (0)
    Jacks (7)
    Queens (1)
    Kings (7)

I enjoyed being solo for a few days and sitting at the bar and low rolling VP and the football games. For some reason, having my mind all wrapped up in VP and a few sports bets really helps me reset. My mind is fully occupied and there is no room to think about the normal work, teenage kids, holiday shopping, yardwork, etc. The D was great, I think I’ll probably be trying to talk my brother in to staying there at least some of our annual March Madness trip.

While not Vegas related (but related to this TR), I surprised the wife with a quick overnight trip up to Napa yesterday where we hit our favorite wineries and had a wonderful dinner at the CIA in St. Helena. Sort of a thank you for letting me escape to Vegas for a long weekend. The weather was a beautiful Northern California December day. Having Napa so close is one of the many benefits of living in Sacramento.

If you ever find yourself up that way, I would definitely recommend the Gatehouse restaurant at the CIA. The tasting menu was interesting and the kids cooking and serving were all happy to be graduating in 10 days. I was also impressed that they all seemed to have jobs lined up for when school ends. The highlight of the meal for me had to be the warm spiced wine. It was Christmas in a wine glass. Here are a few bonus pics since my solo Vegas trip was definitely light on the food porn.

Enjoyed. Just caught up. And thanks for posting those Luxor room pics. My homebase is Delano/MB since 2003, and although I sometimes take a break and wander over to Luxor slots, I now know I'll never stay there. I'm a bit of a Phobic so cannnnooooo do...And good for your wife for letting you go chill.

FYI, those are the pyramid rooms. The rooms in the tower are totally normal. They've always got deals, so Luxor isn't a bad place to stay if you're looking for a bargain. I've stayed several times and always been happy.

Good to know. I haven't paid for a room since prior to 03 (I did some CET before 03 (Paris, Caesars, Bally's,+Rio most comped, but sometimes they got me for a portion of the room) before I got embedded with MB) HOWEVER...sometimes I have a crew. Let's say 8 extra sons, two extra suites/rooms. As my host at the time (I'm on my 5th) has always comped their extra rooms, just thinking, if it was a busy weekend (fight/rodeo) was like FULL I could tell her to always put them over at Luxor. Keep forgetting Luxor is just a few hallways away.

To get quads of every rank it takes about 41 quads on average. More than most people probably guess.
