Spending Southwest points on others and refunds

So I am looking to spend some points on booking flights for my parents for their anniversary and I am considering using points for the flexibility in changing flights and cancelations. If you pay with cash the refund credit is only valid for that traveler and they rarely fly so using the SW credit within a year may not happen. I wanted to clarify if I book with point and need to cancel or perhaps rebook and get a credit back that the points will go back to me and not my parents as they’d have no use for them.

 

Great. That’s what I was hoping was the case. Dollar wise the price is good but I wanted that flexibility just in case things change. Thanks for the input!
