I got in after the dividend cut. I had been accumulating shares of WEN 40-50 at a time for the $1/share (4.68%) dividend. Sold off all 370 shares of the WEN (small loss of about $38) that I had and bought the IEP at $23.78. Ended the day Friday up $1.18 per share with IEP - about $400. Per Fidelity account can't sell the IEP until this coming Wed. Hope Uncle Carl doesn't TKO me before 9:30 am on Wed. If up more than $300 on Wed will sell the IEP.

It’s a limited partnership where you buy shares the represent units I thought. That’s all K1 income right?

Thank you for this information - I do not understand what it means (K1 stuff) but will look into what you have said. Before I could buy the IEP, Fidelity made me sign some type of electronic form where I where I had to acknowledge that I was engaging in a "highly aggressive" transaction (or some wording like that). I though it was weird having to do this form. My experience to date has been making: 1) small quicks hits on things like AMD, CHPT, X, IGT, FLR and the Greek Shippers, and 2) going for dividends with WEN and HE. Now I am beginning to sense I have gotten into something were I may not belong - I hope I have not gotten my self into something that I will regret - an $8k beatdown.

The IEP saga is over for me and I got out safely with no loss of original investment. Learned an important lesson - stay within my normal risk boundaries. Did not even want to stick around for the upcoming IEP ex-div date, got out with a profit of about $210 after netting out the small loss I had by selling WEN to buy the IEP. Not enough to get a seat down on the floor ringside with the Hollywood boxing foogazies for the upcoming Canelo-Charlo bout so when tickets go on sale tomorrow at 1 pm EST I'll be been back in the upper 200 level section - view is not that bad.

You’ll enjoy. I’ve been ringside once. I think a higher elevation is actually better. Some of the boxing judges hang out at El Fuego, and you get slightly better odds in North LV.

I doubt I’m going, so I’m a bit jealous. You need to report back.

Yes, Limited Partnerships like IEP issue K-1s at tax time for their income. You’ll get it from your broker then you can give it to your accountant.
Usually not a big deal unless you have a huge position and/or had the position a long time.

NG has recovered, which is probably good news for the poster that went long indirectly. As I had mentioned at some point I'm going to go long in a conservative way. Conservative means a derivative. EIA GIS seems to indicate some decline in supply, and I need to see if that is a trend, as well as look at pipeline capacity, upcoming cold weather forecasts, etc. There might be some opportunity, although I doubt it will be as great as the NG short was.

NG supply not building as quickly, and pricing is recovering. Took a small long position today. Fundamentally I don't see this long as hugely profitable as my predictable short, but it might be a decent swing trade. I took a conservative long, which is to say derivatives, not a tracking stock, or stock. Going long a tracking ETF or ETN has risk becuase due to roll there is deterioration. ETN's obviously have credit risk, and ETF's have all sorts of issues due to the assets they hold, which is primarily cash and futures contracts.

You could say my short trade/profit was "easier" due to the above.

Quite a lot more to it, but not that complicated.

It might be time to start going long natural gas again. A couple indicators hit lows this morning, and supply seems to not be building as quickly as it has been. This said, supposedly a more mild winter this year.

Place markers NG forward moth contract is $2.832 and UNG is $5.845 as I type this, and take s small long entry position. 11/22/2023.

Waiting for the Wendys results at market open. Got in at $19.05 a few days ago. Looking to see the announcements push it over the $20 mark. If yes, will sell all and use profit (less the amount of the short term hit) to fund train into NYC and ringside ticket at the Garden for the Abraham "Super" Nova and Bruce "Shu Shu" Carrington boxing card this weekend.

WEN didn't pop today - its going to be super Nova and Shu Shu on the tube (ESPN). Nice run this morning on Hawaii Electric - not a lot of shares in play but will take short term profit now and stash it as foundation for the BR for the upcoming May 4 Canelo Vegas card.

Shorting Boeing. Things are far far far worse then they talk about. Airbus is kicking their ass. Travel sites last night started to add a filter to filter out Boeing's Death Trap planes. Whistler blower that testified recently that 737 Max issues also extend to there Carolina's plant committed suicide last night as well.
