I need to check in for a flight tomorrow while at a business function. Although, I set a calendar alert, there's a chance I won't be able to check in exactly 24 hours prior to my flight. Depending on my boarding number, I might try to upgrade the position at the gate. I read somewhere if you pay to upgrade your boarding number at the gate with your SW Airlines credit card, they credit your account. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks for this, Chuck. Didn't realize Southwest Visa had a Priority card with this benefit.

I did a search through email and found that I was given an offer (since expired) to upgrade my Southwest Visa Premier to Priority plus 5000 miles.

Ugh! I'll call them to see if I can still be upgraded.

I was able to check in 24 hours prior for a sold out flight and got B49. Thankfully, I upgraded at the gate to A7 to guarantee a window seat. For today’s sold out flight home, I got B4 and easily got a window seat.

On Wednesday’s flight, one of my seat mates gifted me a drink ticket after hearing me tell the flight attendant I would use a credit card to pay. The flight attendant asked who gifted me the ticket then returned the ticket to my seat mate. He wanted to continue paying it forward.

If you want to gamble check in at the airport can result in surprise “A” boarding. I’m assuming from people who changed their flight last minute. Or you could get the “C” but if you don’t gamble why are you on this board lol!

As a followup, I called and was able to upgrade from the Premier card to the Priority card, which gives this benefit. Even better, I don't have to wait for the new card to appear in the mail, my current card can be used and is already considered upgraded.

Seems a great deal... I was paying $99/year for Premier. Priority is $149/year but you get $75 travel credit back. In addition to the $50 x 4 uprades.
