Nice report! I'm amazed you can deal with those swings! Was that crazy split hand on a double deck game? Hit S17 does make a pretty big difference at that level. ;)

Yes, that was the double deck game. The H17 rule at the DD table did cause me to lose one hand where I had an 18 and they drew to 20 or 21.

I’ve just learned to deal with the swings. It just feels awesome when you can make a $100k, $200k, or even $300k swing to the upside in one session!

The best is when you are just winning hand after hand where you don’t even have to draw a card or make a hard decision. On the flipside of course it goes both ways and I can just sit in amazement as the dealer performs magic tricks and draws to 21 five hands in a row to beat my 20. It’s a roller coaster that I’ve come to accept. Not for everyone.

Got the numbers from my play:

    Wynn/Encore:
    Time: 1:47 (hours)
    Avg Bet: $7,721
    Theo: $7,067
Win: $223,700 (actual win after tips was $220k)

PHo (these seem to be rounded off):
    Time: 3:00 (hours)
    Avg Bet: $14,000
    Theo: $27,000
Loss: $27,000 (actual loss after tips was $30k)
Tire credits earned: 55,000 plus 10,000 daily bonus. (Plus 500 for hitting the Spring Ahead Bonus. Tier credit goal was 59,000 so the daily bonus must count)
    Resort Credits earned: 74,000

Overall actual win was around $190k.

Also found out that PHo does offer loss discount at $100k or larger loss, starting at 5%.

What type of betting strategy do you use for such a high variance?

Win a couple in a row then BALLS TO THE WALL at table max! How’s that for a strategy?

Wow!!!! Just caught up... i was reading and showing MrsDRP excerpts from this report as we sat on our balcony at the beach.... she's not a VMB reader, her eyes were bugging out and she had that "oh shit" look.... i kept telling her that "this isn't going to end well" - I assumed from the title of "4 too many hours".... BUT IT DID!!!! Fantastic swings and a great ending.... regardless... Love seeing those huge $$$ amounts of chips........ Thanks!!!

Maybe I misinterpreted you’re loss discount but every trip that I’ve lost at PH, I’ve always gotten a loss rebate..minus comps I used of course, but all my losses that I’ve gotten the rebate are always well under 100k. Usually in the 20-30k range

This was just information that my host gave me. What kind of loss discount do you get at PH for 20k-30k range?

You mentioned “after comps”... maybe since I get a good amount of upfront promo chips and “airfare” cash it works out better than a loss discount at a $30k loss.

Cet loss rebates vary dramatically property to property and between individual hosts. My last host was offering 10 percent loss rebates as freeplay for any loss over 10k. I know not same as cash but still better than nothing. My new host is offering some but isn’t consistent. I had a 26k loss and got 1400 freeplay.

A few trips ago my host was gone day of check out so I spoke to another host who had transferred to Harrah’s from Cromwell. When I asked him about my loss rebates he told me he couldn’t do anything for losses under 250k. Me and my host had a good laugh that he forgot where he is now. Harrah’s doesn't have 250k players.

I can’t remember the exact percent, but what I do remember about it is they calculated comps at 30% of theo. Then that number minus the amount of comps used. That difference was typically about what I was given back on a loss rebate on a losing trip..plus airfare which is separate. But with your losses being greater I’m sure you’re getting a much better deal anyways.

And my rebates have always been given to me in cash, not any fp, promo chips, or anything like that

I may be way off too. But I just texted my host at PH so I’ll post the response once I receive it regarding loss rebates

@vegasmeister here is an exact text from my PH host.

Hmm...I'm not sure who told him that! It's $10K loss or 2500 in Theo based on what's leftover after all comps are through

And by no means am I calling you out or saying you’re wrong. My average at PH is In the 1k range at BJ so much lower than yours. Just wanted to make sure you weren’t getting pushed around by them regarding rebates.

I followed up with my host after you posted this and he basically said he gives it (the loss discount) to me upfront as airfare, win or lose, and that other hosts may structure it different and give it as backend loss discounts. He does pay me $2500 cash (for “airfare” just for showing up, as well as $4k in promo chips. Honestly, that’s more than any other joint gives me upfront. It does work out better on winning trips. He did say he will talk to his boss about increasing my upfronts (airfare and promo chips) when I asked if that was possible if I increased my credit line.

Ah okay glad your host broke it down for you! Sounds like a great upfront perk then just for getting you through the door. Maybe one of these times we will run into each other at the PH high limit. The table to the left of the 2 deck pitch was where I did my 100k damage playing solo :)
