Did they tell you how much caviar you got and what kind it was? $130 could be sort-of-worth-it depending on that... maybe?

Certain types of caviar are pricey. The Ostera Sturgeon is moderate. On the high, high end is Beluga Sturgeon. I think Beluga was banned for a while everywhere except for Russia due to declining stocks but some government sponsored farming projects brought them back so their caviar gets sold again. (I could be wrong on that but I seem to remember reading something about it.)

Given that you get a full ounce of the caviar $130 actually doesn't seem THAT bad.

 

Here's a pretty good pricing guide for the different types of caviar by the ounce and kilo. Ostera typically retails for $80/oz per this so, depending on the brand, as I said $130 is not THAT bad when you consider Vegas Strip restaurant mark-ups.

You can get good caviar at Costco.com starting from 40/oz or so. DIY - order a plain bagel and cover it in caviar from your own tin.
