I wish some cool shit would happen like that for table gaming...but the cost of installation for something like that would be astronomical when a casino has to pay nothing to offer a “old fashioned” craps table.
Don’t forget they’d also have to have employees who knew how to operate a computer...
This would rule out all but the major strip casinos as viable places to install something like that.

Imagine playing craps at a Pink Floyd laser show.

I think it could be fun with the right group and lots of alcohol. Seems one the D would be a good fit. Wouldn't want to play on it all the time though.

I've asked that question but haven't received a response. I'm assuming it's some type of OLED material but no one will verify that.

The install costs would be high yes, but there would be a long-term offset in labor costs because these tables only require one "dealer" (the stickman) and it appears to run on a TITO system so no chips etc. It's basically a 16 player stadium game with an arbitrary timer which would eliminate having to have a box man watching for late bets etc. You wouldn't even need a stick man who knew the game all that well. All they'd have to do is know when and where to move the dice etc.

This isn't to say that the economics would work for smaller casinos, I tend to agree with you that the up-front costs would be a little bit high for the smaller casinos, but like all things costs will come down as the technology improves.

Unfortunately I can't see the video either so I don't know if it's really good or bad, but all I can say is, please don't ruin my last remaining fun game for me.

Sorry, I've looked everywhere for another video of it but the only place I can find it is on the Twitters. And you can't make a copy of the video on Twitter, only the link.

I DID find this story on it, with a picture but not a video of "live" play.

    Roll to Win Craps

It's from Azure Gaming Technologies so maybe they will release a video soon.

An oled screen seems so strange to roll dice on. I guess I am too accustomed to felt.

In addition to saving labor costs, it seems like it would cut down on some forms of cheating as well (e.g., pastposting)

One good thing it is SHOULD pay out true odds on all bets.

That's what it looks like, and sounds like (based on the clicking noise when the dice are rolled), which would likely be incredibly annoying to roll on. And I'm not sure that OLED technology, even while relatively advanced at this point, could tolerate repeated physical stress like that without breaking, not to mention the fact that OLED has burn-in issues and a lot of that table looks like it'd be static. What I could see, though, is someone coming up with some sort of projection mapping setup where they could rig the light source on the ceiling and use a neutral felt layout. If they can do it on an ice rink, I imagine a craps table is manageable.

Or something like those roulette tables that are colorful and have flashing lights. Can't remember where I've seen those in Vegas though...

The cosmo has roulette tables that light up. They’re real tables, no the machines.

If we're thinking of the same ones, those are just standard felts with an LED array underneath to light up things like the winning bets, etc. I personally think even those are unnecessary, but they're definitely not close to the sort of bells-and-whistles thing that this craps setup is going for.

I do wonder about the technology. I keep remembering the MindPlay system that was around for a few years in the early 2000s -- it combined RFID chip tracking with realtime card scanning so they could, in theory, perfectly correlate every bet with every hand. Problem was, the thing didn't work.

They has something simular at Bills I think before it became cromwell. You gave them money and they loaded it on your position, each had a screen. Not as fancy as that table but it had real dice and I think they would input the roll into the computer. Was kind of slow as people did not know how to use it. As I recall it did pay true odds on all bets.

Just got an answer from Azure Gaming on Twitter.

According to them the surface is LED panels topped with a screen topped with a mesh like cover to keep the dice from flying everywhere.

    Interesting.

Looks very cool but can you imagine playing any length of time on it? The video was only 30 secs and I was done with it. It's like one of those monster slots. Overload.

I had found another video on this from youtube (position to 4:13 where they start covering the craps table). It is not something I would be interested in, but may be a way to move people from bubble craps to the tables.

Here is a video of a different craps table as well, which lights up under the bets so may be the same as the roulette table mentioned above.
