I honestly don't blame them. Just as lucrative races later in the year at distances these horses are more likely to run in the future. I certainly wouldn't do the Belmont unless I had a horse in line for the TC, or I thought he was a stretch-out specialist.

    Agreed.

Although I will say this. If they thought they had the best horse and the horse is ready, I would take him to the Preakness and kick their asses then just smile.

    I agree with that.

I can't imagine the disappointment Mr. West is dealing with. I don't know much about him well but man imo he isn't coming great in this. And blaming Tyler and War of Will [who saved an absolute disaster] really gets my angry.

I don't know how I would act in his shoes but sometimes you gotta take the L and move on.

It’s (getting DQed) has to sting BAD but blaming others isn’t the answer in my opinion. I feel bad for the West’s and the trainer but I would like to think I would respond in a classy way. If you are angry don’t comment right away and take time to process what happened then say something.

I have tons of empathy for all of them [while understanding under current rules it is 100% right.] His debate should be a change of rules maybe but this is getting uglier and uglier. It's sad

    Agreed,

If he should be frustrated with ANYONE it would be Flavian Prat, who along with Jon Court, filed the objection. The difference being Court's horse was almost destroyed in that mess, while Country House escaped almost untouched. When I first saw the replay I was looking only at Max Security an Country House, and I thought "what the HELL is Prat objecting to?" Then I watched it a second time and saw what happened to WoW and Long Range Toddy and went "oh...OK, I guess you have to take him down then." But when I said "No way they take this down" that was in response to Country House.

What the hell does West want Tyler to do? Stop running on a legal pass and concede the biggest race of the year?

I get West's being upset. The best horse he's ever owned, and might ever own, and he gets DQ'd from the biggest race of his lifer after winning? I'd be gutted.

But I'd also wish them the best and try and beat them solidly the next time around if I could. I'm sure the Preakness is sick that they cannot feature Maximum Security vs. Country House II. That would have been HUGE

Country house did have to take a step outside. And got bumped slightly. I guess pratt told outrider right away [something CHD stewards really messed up was lack of info on race day]

I am not sure what he saw at that moment in time but him doing it right away shows me he felt something was amiss.

I don't like that he is being vilified

I'm not trying to vilify him. Just saying I thought his horse didn't get effected much. He was bumped, it's his right to object.

By no means did I mean you... I'm sorry it came off that way.

I meant more by the unwashed masses.

And thank you! I have been screaming that CH has had been bumped. It wasn't all that frivolous of an objection.

I agree I don't think it mattered much for to the jock on that moment he didn't have all the benefits we had.

People are way to wrapped up in that CH won... equating his objection to him not being foul therefore he shouldn't have won....

    Again not you nick. Hugs...

Country House was never gonna win that race for sure. I will go on a limb and say he won't win a Grade 1 ever again. He looks like this year's Hofburg. Now that Maximum Security has taken his ball and gone home, the Preakness has turned into a fabulous betting race. I'm taking the rapidly improving Laughing Fox. Good luck all.

To me this is crazy. It feels like piling on and the Stewards saying "see! We were RIGHT!! and we're MORE RIGHT now that we've suspended him."

For the record I said to my wife that day I wouldn't be shocked if he were fined or suspended.

I’m pretty sure if you get DQed you get days 99.9% of the time but 15?!?!?

I don't necessarily agree with the 15 but I assumed a fine or small suspension would have come that's all. That's a lot.

Nope. I got stung by this (and it was my fault) when Silver Legacy first opened in Reno in the mid-90’s. I was staying there so I was betting pick 3’s at Santa Anita at their race book. I hit a few small ones for a couple hundred bucks then the key race in the sequence I beat a heavy fav with a $30+ winner and had the next two winners too. The first pick 3 paid about $400 but the next one was over $1,000.

I was pretty pumped until I cashed my ticket and the guy gave me $600 haha

I never bet another race there until they went parimutuel
