Thanks for reading along. I seem to like the word impromptu or my last few Vegas trips were last minute trips. I don't plan very well. This TR was from this past weekend.

Synopsis of this trip: Met some great members of VB, epic slot pull, early slot losses, small win in high stakes slot tourney, convert FP to save trip, turn $100 into $1500 on One shoe of BJ, and go home

Working on details. Didn't take photos because I am not a planner.

It was a pleasure to meet you and your wife and I hope we see each other on a future Vegas trip. Great write up of your trip and congrats again on your many fabulous wins!

I'm still a bit intrigued with Beauty and Essex. I agree with your opinion of it but I'm hoping that since it was the first week they were opened that perhaps they will tweak their menu and concept a bit.

I know some feel a $50 is unlucky but my friend Terri won 10k on Top Dollar using one and now you have won too, so from now on I'll take any $50's that people don't want, LOL!

Here are the scores for sessions 2 and 3 for the 2nd day's tourney. As you can see, I went from decent to not great to decent again. In the last session, I was on pace to score 12k points but my machine got cold at the end. I thought I had a chance.

The scores from this 2nd was good enough to get 50th place but not good enough to win anything other than another $500 FP. Had I scored another thousand or two points, I would have placed again. If I had my scores from the previous day, I would have been in top 5 or 10.

I was really lucky with my scores. 7859 was my lowest. I saw scores of 5k and 6k. I had solid to decent sessions. I was lucky to score $3k in FP. You never know on these slot tourneys if they are structured to give us little guys a shot. It is when they tie additional chances to earned tier points or additional buy-ins that make the tourney not as attractive for smaller players.

This tourney was 130 entrants which was lower than the projected 150. There were no rebuys or additional entries which made me decide to enter. The grand prize was adjusted from $100k to $90k but everyone was guaranteed a total of $1k in FP. You never know when you will win something. It is all luck. I won $750 in FP in a Cosmo slot drawing a few months back. The Cosmo event was tied to earning tier credits for entries. I only had 4 but still managed to get 1 of 10 prizes. I converted that FP to about 4K to salvage that trip in April. I guess that is why they call it gambling.

Wow, super interesting on what they did to the structure. We were lucky at Wynn that they did not diminish the VP tourney prize pool for having 80 entrants vs the 100 they were looking for... Instead, they kept 1-80th the same and divided up the bottom 20 freeplay amongst the 80 participants! We all got an extra $125 on our card (maybe this is why the machines have seemed tight to everyone ;)

Thanks for the kind words. It was very nice to meet a celeb this past weekend. Keep writing your blog. It is a fun read. I have used it for so much information about events and restaurants.

I don't have any opinions on the $50 bill. I actually had a $50 bill in my wallet while in New Orleans after I had lost quite a bit. The 2 bills I had hidden in the wallet sparked a comeback and saved the trip. Though I can probably tell you stories where the $50 bill was cursed. Money is money. I'm with you. I will gladly take anyone's unwanted bills.

I think this is the type of stuff that Evoni is referring to with VP property. They cut the Platinum Lounge food and got rid of the Gold Lounge. This was actually a reason why I didn't gamble as much this trip. I like to take breaks and randomly come back to slots. Since I didn't have convenient lounges, I got tired and went to bed earlier than usual.

I hope you were able to win the money I left at the Wynn for you this past weekend.

I know this sounds small, but just curious. Did you get nightly turndown with the satin wrapped chocolates each night? I've always had it in the past, but none this trip. Not sure if it was forgotten, or another cost cutting measure!

I don't think I am on your level of play so no chocolates. I don't think I have ever gotten the chocolates. I would rather have chocolate casino chips over wrapped chocolates. I may play higher denominations due to ability to deduct losses from wins, but I don't generate as many points per trip.

I checked online and I did not get an invite to the $5k buy-in tourney in July. I'm just am happy for a room to stay in during my trip. Kidding. I am not high on play for comps system. I prefer the comp yourself system and take whatever they are willing to give you. So I am not as willing to give lots of playing time. I enjoy winning more than time at a slot or finding a fun slot to play. Fun for me is winning. I think it is my competitive nature.

You are great at the hit and run- we are awful at that and that's why the casino loves us penny playing Slotters! Because we presume a loss, we have no issue sitting for hours (as you witnessed) just churning the credits through and that tends to generate a surprising amount of THEO compared to $$ at risk. I think our play sounds bigger than it is, they just LOVE penny slotters and comp accordingly!

Oh- and that tournament....when I went online, it said 350 buy in but I couldn't get into the link. I thought it was a buy in for $350. Wasn't until I got the mail out that I saw it was a 5k buy in for 350 in prizes etc. Not sure if you can see your actual detail offers on line.

I am beginning to understand that. I might just have to play more slots on an upcoming trip. :)

In March I still got turn down service with the satin wrapped chocolates at Palazzo and I was only in a Fortuna Suite with no Prestige package. I like that touch. It's little but I appreciate the gesture.

Ok. So back to the report and where this gets interesting. I will apologize in advance because I only got pics 2 of the 5 slot wins because I wasn't really planning on doing a report and the wins were "small" W2's so it was not as impressive to post. For my slot pics, I like anything above $2k. Sadly, all of my wins were below that amount but had enough of them to salvage the trip.

So after my sessions, I decided to go play off some steam because I had a chance at the last session to get a great score but my machine ran out of steam. Unfortunately, the loss of steam continued. I lost another $1k at the slots trying to get it all back in a hurry even though I had several one thousand dollar bonuses at Top Dollar, Pinball, and Wheel.

So I went to the craps table to change my luck. I wanted to throw dice but the guy that had the dice was on a roll. He was a snake eyes from an All bet except VP took out the All/Small/Tall. I was gunshy from the losses so was only betting minimums. Turned $100 into $500. I actually thought I missed the awards reception because the guy threw for 20 minutes. I had to call the wife to collect my chips. She must have jinxed it because he sevened out shortly after I left.

Went to awards reception because they were drawing for 1 million gift wrap points. You had to be present to win. Sadly, neither VegasChic nor I won either of the drawings. After learning of not placing in this second tourney, the wife and I decided to try our luck at the Wynn since she had lost $500 already.

There were no wins at the Wynn. I think they named it that because only Steve wins there. My wife lost another couple of hundred. I won a bonus on $25 Top Dollar right away. $1k bonus. So slowly creeping back. I decide to try to get something going. Unfortunately it was a slow burn at video slots, reels, and VP. Lost my win slowly. 30 minutes later, I lost another $500 to bring the damage to $4500 before the tourney buy-in. With my wife's losses, we were over $5k.

We decide on dinner. Carnevino was the choice. The tasting menu didn't sound great for $150 pp so we decided to do our own tasting. Sorry. I didn't get photos because I wasn't planning on doing a TR and had eaten there many times. We did the octopus, beef tartare, seafood pasta, dry age tortellini, and dry age New York strip to share. Meal was great. The cherry on top was that they had great wines by the glass. I got a glass of the Insignia to go with my steak. It is hard for me to finish a bottle but a glass is perfect with dinner. The wine made me forget all about the losses.

Very interesting report and all the details of the slot tournament. In regards to Beauty and Essex, I can't speak for the one that just opened in Cosmo, but the one here in NYC on Essex Street, hence the name, is just wonderful. Maybe they just need to work out some kinks. Looking forward to the rest of this report.

I'm so disappointed with those changes and it's the same here about taking breaks to have a nibble and drink in the lounge without getting stuck at a slot waiting for a server. I think we should all give them bad feedback on those changes as I'm sure Sheldon can afford to put out some snacks as he has done for years up until now!

LOL, I feel so special I got it for the one night. Not sure what happened the last two nights to my chocolate. When I'm at Aria I always make sure to ask for turndown service even when not in a suite, just for those flavored chocolates they drop off during it. ;)

Back to the TR. Sorry. It is hard to concentrate with all the basketball still going on.

After dinner, we decide to gamble since it was the last night. My wife wisely decides to hit the BJ table instead of slowly bleeding away at the penny slots. I hit the $25 wheel machine and get a bonus within the first 2 spins. $100 in. $1000 out. I walk and decide to play a little BJ to get to avoid losing my wins right away. I like to randomly hit a slot instead of putting in a long session. I also had $3k in FP to burn. I decide to mix it up and play crappy rules BJ for 15 minutes. I usually won't play but just needed a little bit of time to change my luck. When I get up $200, I decide to walk and hit the HL slots. I run into Evoni, VegasChic, Sis, and MonteCarloPlayer in the Venetian HL lounge. They had a slot pull going on. They seemed to be winning.

I tried my luck at the $100 Wheel. Two spins. Nada. While they crew is still playing their pull, I hit the $25 Pinball machine with $300 of my FP. It is a pain to load. I hit the bonus after 3 spins. I got 55 credits from the 4 bonus balls. Not great but I am clawing my way back and am doing it on FP nonetheless. The problem now was that I had $150 left in the machine that I cannot put into a different machine because I didn't "win" any credits. While trying to figure out how to undo the $150 left in FP, I accidentally hit the $100 button and then spin. Crap. Only $50 left now. Can't take it out. So I spin and get nada. I don't like to keep playing Pinball after a hit because it usually never hits anything for a little bit. Only really needed $150 but spent $300. Of well. I guess I will only load $200 at a time now. It is a pain because you have to enter your pin and amount. Those touchscreens are terribly unresponsive. I also didn't take a picture because it wasn't picture worthy and I wasn't planning on doing a TR.

I get paid and the crew is just leaving the HL room. I decide to check out the former Gold Lounge in the Venetian. It is now a private bathroom for the Gold and Platinum folks. Terrible. I was going to get a drink and take a break before I gamble again. I guess I will walk around for a bit before I put some more money in. I go and harass the wife. She is up $200 but she shoos me away. I tell her to give me $100 because I am down. I go and cash it out and save it for her. I like to squirrel chips away so she doesn't keep grinding away. I usually have $500 for her at the end.

Since she is up, I go back to the HL room. I keep running into VegasChic Sis and VegasChic. I bet they must think I am stalking them all trip. I just like to walk around so I don't blow everything in 10 minutes. I play high limits slots but only have the BR to do it in bursts and not long sessions. I take stabs. If it is hitting, I stay. If not, I walk or go get a drink in the lounge. I pick another good one. I hit the $25 Top Dollar machine with $200 FP. On my last spin, I get a TD bonus. I get offered 55 credits, which is great but still W2. Another $1375 but will take it given that I was down quite a bit. I am almost even. Should I call it a night or keep clawing. My wife answered that question for me. She pulled out her quarter and flipped it. Tails and we stay. She keeps grinding at the BJ table. She is up $300 now with the $100 I took from her on this session. She is still down $400 for the trip so has a ways to go. I decide to walk to the Palazzo.

Loving this report!! Great job- I hope you do them from now on! That is so sweet you grab $$ off your wife and save it for her! What a nice treat for her at the end!! Very smart of you!

Even though I mostly know how this goes, I'm looking forward to next instalment!!!

LMAO! I have thought the same so many times too!

Also I agree about the former Gold Lounge now the high limit lounge being a glorified bathroom.
