Sorry to hear about your mother, Diana.

I tend to not want to commit to things up front simply because how unpredictable life can be.

Hope it all works out. You are in my thoughts.

 

Did the meet-and-greet a couple years ago prior to the Hell's Kitchen dinner. It was a great dinner, but one note: GR was only there for about the first hour or so. Then he went off and did other events. At the M&G? Mrs. Ocean and I got lucky ... we were the last ones into the room (there were 16 people there), letting others go before us, and, as it happened, he came into the room and just talked our ears off for 20 of the 30 minutes. So last ones sort of totally spoiled it for the others. They got him to come back to chat with other folks for a while as a result. Haha. I wasn't complaining. It was a great time!

I don't know what space they used back then but the restaurant they're using this year seats 290 ppl! Because 16 seems really small for them to have sold out in minutes, I assume there will be way more ppl in the M&G this year. The event description says those in the M&G will get dibs on the seating and I just don't want to be seated on the second floor away from the action. I can be totally wrong and thinking about it too much. Lol.

I'm not going to commit now so in the end I may have to just attend whatever event is still open when I decide. I won't be in until the 28th (that's the plan so far anyway) so I will miss all of Thursday's events.

We'll see what happens. But I'm still excited! My first Vegas Uncork'd and first time going to Vegas during a busy time/warmer month. Can't wait!

 

Yeah, the M&G when we went was in a small room behind the partitioned off section of the dining room at GR Pub & Grill where they held the dinner. It was basically a private dining room for 8-10 that held maybe 20 standing up. So it was very intimate. And super cool.

 

Okay. This event is at his pub and grill as well so maybe it is the same amount of ppl. So maybe I'll be able to get a good seat after all. If it's still open in a couple of weeks, I might go for it.

Everything I want to go to is sold out! Serves me right for checking so late. I'd like to do the Epicurean Affair with Guy Savoy but would have to find 5 others will to fork over more than a grand. Wonder if we would still need to tip...

 

Sorry everyone, I didn't mean to hijack the thread. I've been trying to go to uncork'd for years but something always happens to prevent me which is strange considering how frequently I do get to Las Vegas. The year Claire went I was suppose to go with her and even had bought tickets to the main event and another one but ended up moving into a new house instead. By the time I know if I can definately attend this year I suspect tickets will be sold out.

Thanks Jen. Mom is doing better but we are in the process of selling her large house and if the latest contract doesn't fall through I will be moving her a small condo in Ft. Lauderdale next month or in April.

Thanks Heather. I'm planning on making April, but we'll see how things go between Mom's health and moving her to a new place to live. Only a family emergency will keep me away from the VF Meets!

Thanks so much. I guess that is the way this year will be for me between Mom's health and selling her house and moving her to a condo. Just hoping nothing else happens to surprise me this year.

Darn, story of my life, LOL! If I go in 2018 I'm going to do my best to coax you to make the trip and go to a couple dinners with me.

 

So. It appears that some of the events that were sold out have been either added to or ppl have already dropped out (they say the tickets are nonrefundable but maybe they are not strict with this?)

The cheapest epicurian dinner ($379) was sold out but is now reopened. As well as the Bobby Flay Brunch 1pm seating. I'm pretty sure these were showing as sold out just yesterday but are now reopened. So there are still plenty events still opened. Hope they stay open for awhile...

 

I just bought tickets to the "A Movers and Shakers Mixology Journey." The Picnic in the Park was kind of tempting (Voltaggio!) until I read the part about standing and playing corn hole. I'll just take the booze, booze, and then more booze. Pasta making with Scott Conant doesn't sound terrible either but those tickets aren't on sale yet.

 

Now I'm going to "Lunch like a Spaniard with José Andrés at Jaleo" on Friday.

 

That sounds like a dream. He's got such amazing, positive energy. Would love to hear about it! Enjoy!!

 

I'm very jealous and I expect you to share lots of your great photos with us.

 

@jenblase I printed my tickets from Eventbrite. Maybe your tickets are different because of Chase Sapphire.

I think even with early access, people will line up early.
