    Hello everyone

    First post here.

I am a diamond member and am taking my first trip to Vegas at the end of June(6/21-6/25)with the Wife. First time for both of us. I am 40 and my wife turns 40 a couple of days before we are coming to Vegas.

Because of my play in Atlantic City and Philadelphia Harrah’s I have multiple comp room choices. I would like some help deciding on where to stay.

Options are as follows that I norrowed down:
-Caesars Palace- forum classic King for $0
    - Flamingo- go or fab regular or executive room for $0
-Bally’s jubilee or renovated room for $0
-Harrah’s Mardi Gras room for $0
-Planet Hollywood ultra Hip room for $180

    Things that are important

1)pool- Would like the pool area to be fun and active but not total chaos.

2)Will try to get some sort of upgrade at check in but if I can’t which of those rooms would be recommended.

    3) Is it worth staying at a hotel that connects to the monorail to get around the strip in the heat of summer?

    4) Would be nice to have a room with a view. I don’t want to look out my window and stair at a roof, wall or air conditioning units.

    5) I’ve read that there is construction going on in a few of these places. I am in the construction business and don’t want any parts of being bothered by construction while on a getaway.

    6) Is planet Hollywood really worth $180 when I have four other options that are free.

    Any advice would be appreciated

Caesar's Palace checks all of your boxes except monorail which is not worth it anyway IMO. Flamingo has a large, fun pool, but can be more for the younger crowd. Plus CP definitely outclasses Flamingo.

Strip view would be nice. Mountains would be ok also. Just don’t want to look out my window and stair at a roof or a wall( not that I plan on sitting in the room much)

From what we can see online and from taking to friends we are leaning towards Caesars just a little worried about the forum classic room. The next cheapest option offered to me is the NOBU deluxe king and that would cost me $1000( not doing that).

Looked at Paris and weren’t crazy about it for some reason. I can get a classic room there for $120 or a red room for $225.

I figure since we don’t plan on spending tons of time in the room I might as well take one of the free options unless one of the other options really have something special to offer that I can’t find online.

I’d book Caesar’s and try to upgrade to a fountain view in either Augustus or Octavias Tower. Palace Tower is my 2nd choice. If staying at Flamingo, insist on a Go Room, elevators closest to the lobby. I’d select comped over paying to stay at Planet Hollywood.

You will love Vegas especially as a first timer. Ceasar’s Palace is very big but it is the best hotel of the ones mentioned in your post. I agree with MissL7777 about trying to get an upgrade to a fountain view in the Augustus or Octavius Tower. Have a wonderful and lucky trip!

I agree. Caesars Palace checks off everything on your list. If you decide to take the monorail, cross the street and take it one way from Harrah’s, all the way down to MGM and work your way back, walking and checking out the other properties.

Have a great trip - you’re sure to love it!

Caesars and Flamingo have the best pools, especially Caesars, but none of the room types you listed is anything special. Forum Tower rooms at CP don't have much of a view unless you're high up, they feel smaller than the SF listed, and the room decor is drab. The pools and the overall resort may make up for that, I dunno, I stayed in those rooms a lot, there's nothing at all wrong with them, but it was always during a portion of my stays where I didn't care much about how nice the room was.

Bally's and Harrah's I just don't know much about about.

I'd leave the monorail out of the equation.

An Ultra Hip room at PH is definitely not worth $180 compared to zero for any of those other rooms. I stay there and like it but it's really not worth $180 any time. PH has some quirky high pricing sometimes.

The strip is for walking! All these hotels effectively allow you to access that strip and you can spend hours ambling along and exploring each themed casino hotel. Caesars is arguably the most iconic hotel in the world. Doesn’t mean I’d want to stay there however. I’ve played craps, dined and been to shows there. Love the place but preferred a smaller hotel up to now.

I actually like the vibe in the Flamingo! I’ve heard the elevators to the rooms there can leave you wanting, but ultimately you’ll make it to the room and you’ll only be using it to sleep in because there’s simply so much to do for your first visit to Vegas!! The same goes for the other places that are comped (does that include resort fees?).

As you are diamond, you probably have gained that level through a preferred gaming choice, so perhaps that may be a better factor to focus on? All the hotels will have rooms you can sleep in and unless you could guarantee a room upgrade at Caesars, it’s all pretty much the same. The other things to consider is whether you want to be in a small resort or a large one for your first visit. I’ve stayed at the Monte Carlo for 20 years annually which is on the smaller side. I liked its convenience. Next month I will go to the MGM Grand which is on the other end of the scale - it’s massive!

Perhaps you can add more factors into making your choice, such as what kind of expectation you have in the type of crowd the hotel attracts, what games you prefer, whether you want a ton of retail shops downstairs from your room, whether you want the convenience of fast food joints in the hotel, or fine dining. The room is probably going to be incidental for you. My only ever trip to AC earlier this year saw me get a free massive suite at Borgota for two nights. I may as well have not bothered unpacking my bag. Wasn’t in the suite for any amount of time at all!

Well we have decided to stay at Caesars for a few reasons. It is very iconic, it is comped( resort fee also) so I can stay there for free, it is centrally located and we seem to like the pool the most from what we can see. We figure this is a good home base for our first trip.

If I can’t get a room upgrade I won’t be that upset as we won’t be spending tons of time in the room.

I pretty much only play tables( roulette and blackjack) at $25-100 a hand so I’m not searching for super low table limits. In Vegas will probably’ be playing closer to $25 a hand to stretch the bankroll for 5 days unless Lady Luck is kind to me. The wife barely gambles and when she does it is on random slots, so she will find something anywhere we go.

91 days to go. We are both very excited.

Don't sweat the monorail. It is not very efficient, and a lyft not be that much more expensive. FYI free trams between TI and Mirage. Another between Excal, Luxor an Mandalay, and third between The Park (Monte Carlo), Aria and Bellagio.

Caesars is a great choice good central location for 1st time in Vegas.

Make sure you head downtown for one night. :)

Second that. Downtown...go everywhere! There’s no other place like Vegas for gambling anywhere in the world, and I live next to Macau. Absolutely nothing is the same. See as much as you can.

Downtown is definitely on the list. Every single thing I read says to go there. Plus some friends that have been to Vegas say the same thing. Will probably hit downtown on the Friday or Saturday when we are in town.

Thanks to everyone so far for the advice.

Good choice with Caesars, we love playing blackjack at the pool, in the water, it is 6-5 blackjack with only $10 minimum and drinks are free! Keep in mind drinks are about $12 at pool and I was playing and giving my wife a drink and myself, my wife loves H and M in the mall and I really like the aquarium and there is a free show on the hour to boot! The buffet is second to none and as a diamond you don't have to wait 30 minutes!

Also Uber/Lift is very convenient at Caesars, and do not forget your 2 free show tickets, WOW at the Rio was great, a few top-less shows, and a lot of other choices.
    Good luck!!!

From someone who has frequented both Harrah's Philly and Atlantic City, trust me, you will love your selection. I haven't personally stayed at Caesar's but it's a beautiful property, centrally located and as everyone says, meets all your requirements other than the monorail. Agree with others, monorail isn't all it's cracked up to be - unless you are traveling from one end to the other, it doesn't save you all that much time or effort. I do have to say that I find it very odd that you're comped at Caesars but not at PH or Paris. Always been the exact opposite for me.

I agree the comps don’t always make sense. They also change from week to week.

Yeah, you really can't go wrong with Caesars - it's freakin' Caesars. I also agree, see if you can get an Augustus Strip View. Looks like the retail diff right now for those dates is $70/night. You might be able to get it for that much if you call to book. Booking online with TR is usually either you get it comped or you pay full boat (that's why they want to charge you $180 at PH, it's above your comp value level), but calling might be different, I dunno.

Or at check-in, tell them it's your first time in Vegas and ask how much it would cost to upgrade.

As a Diamond member, make sure you use the Diamond check in area which is located down the Augustus Tower hallway to the left of the regular check in desk. The folks there should hook you up with an upgrade without much problem. Especially if you mention it's your first trip to Vegas. Augustus Tower has "strip view" rooms overlooking the Bellagio fountains and the Paris Eiffel Tower. It's beautiful at night. The Palace Tower rooms were recently redone and are the closest to the pool area as you exit the elevators. Octavius Tower rooms also have easy access to the pool. Either of those towers are good options also. Forum tower rooms exit into the casino, and for some, that's a plus. :) Caesars is fairly large, and can be overwhelming, but not overly so. There's plenty of overhead signage to help you find where you need to be. Good luck and have a blast. There's nothing like Vegas. :)
