What a fantastic and busy trip!!!!

First day back from Vegas, not going to lie….I’m hurting today- trip finally caught up with me, but figured I’d get the re-cap started- will add on as time allows!

I’ve been staying on the Palazzo side for the last couple years and decided to change things up this trip with a stay at the Venetian. I had heard a bit about the Terrazzo suites but there seemed to be limited or conflicting details about these. I asked my old host who is now gone about them, he said they weren’t available for booking. Other members reported they were available through their host for a $150 a night upcharge. I did secure one this trip through my new host, in this case at no additional charge.

Unfamiliar with the check-in process at Venetian I initially went to the invited guest line, but was re-directed to another room for VIP check-in. To the left of the main check in there are door simply marked “private” and found this is the area comparable to the Platinum check-in at Palazzo. Nice quiet room with seating and some beverages available, but forgot to take pics- sorry! They advised they again changed what was formerly the Gold Lounge. It’s no longer available 24 hours, and requires your Tier card for entry which they said they do check. They are open limited hours now and provide a schedule for availability.

The Terrazzo suites are located poolside of the Venezia tower, so as many will know- it is a LONG walk getting to the suite!! Not a great choice in hindsight for the busy weekend ahead!! In making it out to the suite, the outer hallway had the new renovated carpets in the blue and grey motif, but was disappointed to see the suite itself hadn’t been renovated at all. The suite was the standard one, but with two door leading out into a small patio with two chairs and a table.

When I entered the room, I found myself turning on EVERY light- it seemed pretty dark in there. Opening the curtains to the patio the cement wall was about thigh high, then there was the iron fence above that with a backdrop of the bushes. We were a corner suite, so it didn’t seem to get much light in there at all. In fairness, if your main purpose was staying for the pools, this would be an awesome set-up as the door entering the pool area was directly beside our room making for easy access. I’m glad I had a chance to finally check these suites out, but it also confirms to me that I’m definitely a Palazzo girl for future trips- the pool access is easy enough from any of the suites, the walk is WAY shorter, and I prefer having the strip view with large windows to brighten up the room!!

Thanks for the pictures of the suite. I'm not a fan of the Venezia tower at all and appreciate seeing that room type. If you give Venetian another try, the main tower rooms are nicer and I'm sure you know they were refreshed recently. This past trip, I was lucky to get a Piazza suite at Venetian. We were supposed to be at Palazzo, but they were booked full and we were offered the suite at Venetian. It was really pretty awesome. It almost made up for the terrible gambling that trip . . .

Now checked in, I had about 45 minutes before heading over to meet VegasMonkey for party set-up. Hmmm, what to do? Gambol of course! Hit some slots but in QUICK time I was down a fast $500, all on penny machines. Boo for a rough start….that would really last about another 24 hours!

Just a few pics from the night as I’m sure there are plenty more in the group thread. A HUGE thank you to @Aaron5 and buddy Cory for swinging by early for helping to set up, not to mention driving in supplies from LA, and the awesome Vegas Fanatics name tags- seriously @Aaron5, you and your crew rock!!!! Another huge shout out to @Ainsworth for sponsoring festivities that night which helped us to bring in loads of Secret Pizza, treats from Milk bar, having more booze than we could even finish drinking (despite everyone’s BEST efforts) plus t-shirts and other goodies we hope everyone helped themselves to! It was great having you and your lovely fiancé attending, I know the members appreciated your insight on the games- hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

The party started at 7 and was planned to run until 9 to be followed up with the group pulls. It was FANTASTIC meeting everyone and putting the face to the board names we see so often, and re-uniting with old friends from past trips! The room was packed, but not to the point of uncomfortable! What we didn’t anticipate were the monsoon winds that night that made it difficult to use the wraparound patio. As a result, the noise level just from our excited chatter made us a wee bit nervous we were going to be shut down so we ended the night closer to 8:30 to move towards the high limit pulls. A BIG thank you to everyone who made it- the events are only successful with participation, and I think we hit it out of the park on this one!

The quick re-cap on the high limit pulls were that the $200 buy-in netted $160 return, and the $500 buy-in netted a full return of the $500, plus we had an extra $1000 to re-invest for bigger profit. We gave it a go, but couldn’t get the big win from it! A huge shout out to @Evoni and @BrianChristopher for recording the pulls that night- can’t wait to see it all again and hope you will let us know when the vid’s are being released and include a link on the board. There was no lack of enthusiasm that night as we once again flash mobbed the high limit room at Cosmo. Thanks @Cosmo_Slot_Vice_President for having our crew in there!

We wrapped up shortly after 11 and Sis and I decided to head back to V/P with Uber. @alexanbo- did I see you had a driver by the same name on your trip? Haha- he’s a busy guy!!

We tried hitting some slots again that night to NO avail. It was pretty brutal really. By the time we would get our first decent hit the next day we were in for a good $1600 plus another $750 in freeplay and slot credits. In all that, starting off with a $100 bill to start a session, we hadn’t had a single TITO to print that hit $200 or more. YIKES!!!!

    Saturday-

We were up at at em bright and early unable to sleep cuz Vegas! We got crushed by the slots that morning without any notable hits! Luckily, it would be a full day of events to keep us occupied other than gambling!

The day started with a board meet-up for brunch at Wicked Spoon! Oddly, I have no pics of the said event, but we ended up with about 30 attending. Nice thing about it was actually sitting together and having a chance to chat! It was great seeing everyone!

Sis and I bolted over to Planet Hollywood shortly before 1 to secure the table for the craps meet-up. Although not officially reserved, @newmans had hooked us up with her contacts over there and we were able to get advance timing of new tables opening that we would be able to take over. Thanks a bunch @newmans, it worked out perfectly and appreciate you leading the table with the other veterans! There was a good crowd at the table and I believe the way it ended up was with the table being choppy and an overall losing session- but by how much depended on their bets. Hope everyone had a great time rolling the dice together!

I don’t typically eat too heavy during the day, so I was busting full from the buffet. Has anyone else ever noticed how much the floors move at Planet Hollywood?!? Sis and I decided to hit the slots while waiting for the next event. We sat down at one of the two seater games near the strip side and just started to play when we could feel the floor rumbling. We kinda looked at each other like is this a mild earthquake or something, but it continued the entire time we were there. I started to vaguely remember the same when I used to play there a lot a few years back! Not normally an issue, but feeling busting full- it almost made me turn green, lol!

Next up was the meet-up at @aaron5’s Apex suite. First off, let me say if you ever consider a career change, events planning may be the way to go! Cannot thank @Aaron5 for putting this fantastic meet together, he had it all….good food, good drinks, and great company! Again it was fantastic to meet up with other VF’ers!! Kudos to @Aaron5 for putting this together- you really did a great job! Wish I could have stayed longer, but had a couple Vegas Uncorked events to attend later that day so we were off and running!!

We had only played at the Venetian so far this trip so we decided to change up our luck and have the taxi drop us off at the Palazzo side for a bit of play before getting ready for the evening activities. Glad we did! Sat down on a 5 cent Wonka game and managed a handpay on just a $3 bet from an Oompa Loompa bonus! It threw down the first 3 reels wild and had the Wonka symbol appear on the 4th reel, followed by a last row of wilds- finished off with a 5X multiplier! We were back in the game!

    [IMG][IMG]

    Vegas Uncorked~

We had a lot going on this weekend so we were a bit limited in our choices for the events we would be able to attend. We ended up initially getting just the tickets for Buddy V’s poolside event at $119 each mainly because of location and time. As one of the weaker events in the line-up that weekend (IMO) I guess ticket sales weren’t stellar. A couple days prior I received an e-mail they were now offering a double deal- for only $99 you would get access to the poolside event AND also access to the afterparty at The Dorsey which had previously been selling tickets separately. I contacted eventbrite asking if my $119 paid tix would get me access to both. They were fantastic to respond requesting I purchase the $99 tix to both events, and they would refund me the $119 tix! Super nice!

Overall, the event far exceeded my expectations. Upon entering you were greeted by gals with drinks and had a red carpet area set up where you could talk and get a pic with Buddy V and his wife. The event was busy but by no means crammed. They had individual stations set up for each of the restaurants from Venetian/Palazzo that were participating- all offering their specialty cocktails and their take on bonbons and beignets. A three piece orchestra played live poolside for a while and was later followed up with some great DJ dance tunes to have more of a party atmosphere.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

There was plenty of press there, mainly from Bon Appetite magazine who were hosting the event. A HUGE takeaway from when they stopped the festivities and addressed the crowd- if you send a request to the RSVP section of their website, THEY CAN GET YOU ANY UNPUBLISHED RECIPE FOR A RESTAURANT DISH THAT YOU WANT!!! Yayyyyyyy- who knew?!? Have a fave Las Vegas dish you crave?!? Request it and they will secure the recipe- how cool is that?!? Despite the fact he was wearing his press credentials and presumably approachable, Robin Leach wasn’t having it when I requested a selfie with him, so only managed a creeper pic as he walked away following my flat out rejection, lol!

Despite going in feeling kinda bummed we only had tix for a “weaker” event out of the line-up, I was really happy we went. It was more intimate feeling, a great crowd (we made friends with some fun gals and guys who were at the table standing next to us we would later find on the casino floor post event) and it really was a blast, I’d do it again. Drinks were a plenty and we were pretty smashed by the time we left there although we hadn’t MEANT to be. Sampling all the cocktails did us in, lol!!!

Upon leaving, they gave us each a takeaway treat that had been used in the display that had greeted us when we had arrived. The large Palazzo sign was filled with sparkly coated doughnuts and they were boxing them up for us when we left. Great in room snack for later!

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]

On the way to the next event we found a really fun Ainsworth game. Not a handpay but was showing us some love and we doubled our buy-in. Super fun game that when in the bonus round if a key appears in the middle reel, it has increasing wilds up to 8X multiplier. It was fun and will def play it again as it seems to have some pretty darn good potential for bigger wins!

TOTALLY tipsy by this point, we decided we better get some food in us since we hadn’t eaten any real food since the Wicked Spoon buffet earlier in the day. Hit up Tao just for the Tao Chow Mein. It was just enough to share for a quick bite. Love the atmosphere here. I have yet to be around when there are girls in the tubs, so maybe I always arrive too early?

    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Next up was the Vegas Uncorked afterparty at the Dorsey, just off the casino floor in the Venetian that opened in December. Super cool vibe in there and is a great spot to meet up for drinks. We had wristbands for the event so we were able to float in and out of the event and take some time playing on the casino floor. I must say, for the $99 ticket price, this had to have been the best deal going for getting the unlimited specialty cocktails we had access to starting at 7 pm and going until the closing of the final event at 1 am. No notable hits on the casino floor, but did get a chance to meet Lorena Garcia who is opening up the newest Venetian restaurant in Restaurant Row in May. Looking forward to trying this one out! Buddy V was also in attendance at this function, super pleasant saying Hello overtime he passed by. In the end, I was really happy with attending the two events and didn’t at all feel it was “weaker” to it’s counterparts given the lack of crowds, intimacy, free flowing drinks and generally fantastic party atmosphere- well done!!

Those two uncork'd events looked like a lot of fun, the first one looked like a high blood sugar count.

I am amazed that you got to fit all of this in while organizing the Spring Fling. Well done!
