First time visiting this property / casino, although based on some research I was fully prepared for the fact that their slot machines are tight. I arrived yesterday (Friday), landed at MSY and took public transit into the CBD. It's fairly straightforward - the best option in terms of timing was to catch the E-2 bus and transfer to the W-2/3/or 8. $2 including the transfer. Much better than the taxi / Uber prices I was seeing. It took about an hour, so if you're in a hurry then this probably won't be a good option. Unfortunately, I have to catch an Uber on the way back because my flight leaves super early in the morning. :(

Arrived at check-in, front desk agents were very pleasant/professional, and I was told my room wasn't ready. No problem! Dropped the bags off and headed over to the casino. It's quite large and the selection of slot machines is interesting, to say the least. Probably 90/10 split between video and non-video slots, with a *lot* of those Wicked Winnings 2/4 combo machines. Lots of older Buffalo, though not as much for Buffalo Gold/Grand/Stampede. Mostly, my luck was better at $1 denoms .. penny slots were tragically awful. I tried a new slot title and it paid out quite well, though I ended up chasing for more and getting burned a bit. Never heard of it until now: Legend of Chang'e (the apostrophe is very subtle, so it's easy to think it's "Legend of Change"). Here's my best hit for the night:

Literally this was the first spin:

Slowing things down on Double Diamond and this was exciting to see, esp after it "locks" into place:

No other penny slot wins, maybe 1-2 4oaks on DDB VP but that's it.

Overall, music was very loud on a Friday night (but great dance tracks!), customer service was top notch all around, and I think there was only machine abuser that was getting on my nerves. The worst part was probably the fact that I made it to 2300 TC but ran out of gas at 1:30am .. I had been playing from 4pm onward with a short break at the Diamond Lounge for "dinner". BR-wise, I'm down $1200. Ugh. Stupid me chasing gold Buffalo and other penny nonsense.

Room is quite nice, bed is firm (love it!), and bathroom is on the fancy side for a Harrah's.

Slept in until 10:45am today, now thinking of getting out of the casino/hotel and heading to the art museum via streetcar. Leisure time, less expensive, and I gotta enjoy this 70-degree weather! Maybe some gamble tonight but very sedate - $1 and vp. Planning to try the Steakhouse to use up RCs.

    More later!

I guess we'll let you join...
Good start so far! Nice run on ""Legend of Change"! Let's face it, that's what the casino wants you to read anyway. Lol

Today started off with a trip to the New Orleans museum of art. I have to say.. this may be one of my favorite museums now.. it's a huge building, reminds me of the Art Institute in Chicago. Lots of natural light, high ceilings, and best of all.. quiet. :) Admission was complimentary, thanks to reciprocal access with my Walker Art Center membership. Ask me for more details on that - one of the best deals if you like art museums!

Had dinner at The Steakhouse in the casino.. not bad, a bit overpriced but good use of RCs (1:1). The cheesecake sounded good on the menu but turned out to be quite boring/plain. Service was good at the bar - first come, first serve seating. Blew through $500 and called it quits.. these slots are just terrible.

Overall, a nice trip.. thankfully short, as I am not too impressed by the casino.. though very thankful it's non-smoking! Hotel is great - love the beds, shower had great water pressure, and I'd definitely stay there again.. just not super impressed by the slot selection. Yes, I love me some Wicked Winnings but there were some conspicuously absent titles or in short supply (Bierhaus, Wonder 4 variety, Wicked Winnings 3, older video slots, Geisha, Lucky 88, etc).

In Vegas 2 weeks from now.. expecting that to be more fun! :)

Thanks for posting, While I love visiting NOLA , it's not for the slots, I will mostly stick to table games at Harrah's. My last trip I snuck over to Gulfport/Biloxi for a couple of days. Enjoyed the casinos much more, so will split my next visit to the Big Easy with the short drive to where the casino competition seems to keep the play a bit more fair.

That's a good point - competition helps .. I'd never go back to the casino either .... Another worthy mention is the street noise on the weekend at night ... If you plan on sleeping before midnight, good luck.
