I’m optimistic one second and building a panic room the next and then going to store to buy more wine. I’ve got no idea what is going to happen but I hope it’s me in Vegas in August.

Everyone in Nevada has to wear a mask when they are out in public with the exception of when they are eating or drinking. The order goes into effect on Friday

A big hospitality workers union held a virtual press conference a few days ago asking lawmakers to require tourists to wear them so it was only a matter of time before their demands were met.

Not Vegas related, but if anyone is interested in a free antibody test, the Red Cross is currently testing all donations for antibodies. My employer offers a few hours of pay for each donation so a few of my coworkers have donated and received their results . 1 out of 9 have tested for antibodies. That one is going to go to Quest Diagnostics for a second test that my employer has offered to reimburse to anyone who takes it, but I do know that the public can buy a test for $115.

I wonder how walking on the strip in 115 degree heat will work in August with a mask? Wearing a mask will take a toll on people in heat. I just ordered two masks for hubs and I with the worst ratings on Amazon for being thin and flimsy. Good. Maybe I will be able to breathe.

I’m not getting ugly but I wear one for 12-13 hours a day and now suffer from severe headaches and sinus and nasal congestion that I never did before until being forced to wear a mask. I told my husband all we had to do was cover our nose and mouth and have the appearance of complying. I just want to be able to breathe without feeling like I am suffocating while on vacation. Still looking at September trip for Vegas.

I could def see that, which is a big reason I booked July and August trips this week to go with my September trip. I could easily see a closure at any time so gonna try to get it in while I can.

We'll be back in USA in 2040 if everything is ok....
It seems that EU won't allow American travelers to come in Europe...so as DT said "reciprocity"...we're totally disappointed !

I couldn't imagine 2020 with no USA trip, I have to change my mind.
Maybe time to consider a plan B ...

You don't have to wear a mask when you're walking outside on the sidewalks, it's covered in the exceptions.

    upload_2020-6-28_10-33-17.png

If you are walking on the sidewalk, you are always ABLE to maintain a distance of six feet from others. Most people are not going to go out of their way to do that, but that fact that you are ABLE to is what matters in the wording.

Good to know. What about Fremont Street Experience walking from casino to casino?? That will get a little dicey. Last time I was there we were packed in like sardines.

I don't really know what to expect.

I can see where a lot of people may be wearing masks outdoors on the sidewalk because they don't know about or understand the exception, or simply by choice. If the majority of people are wearing masks and you're not, I suppose you run the risk of getting the side-eye from people, but I don't think you're violating the order. On the other hand, it's possible that most people won't wear them outside. I think there's webcams on the strip and near Fremont, so you can check it out.

Fremont Street under the canopy, I've never been down there so I don't know if it's a public street or what.

I guess the main thing is that the word "recreational" is broad enough that you can't distinguish someone walking from point A to point B from someone who is walking for exercise or pleasure. And like I said, you are always ABLE to maintain 6 feet distance unless you're getting mugged. And I don't think Fremont street is going to be packed anytime soon.

So I don't think there's going to be any attempt to enforce mask wearing outdoors on sidewalks. If it was in fact required, it would fall to the cops.

ETA: I just watched the Fremont webcam for a few minutes and most people were wearing masks, but some weren't. Not too many people around this early.

I saw some pics on Fremont street. There were signs that said you had to have a mask on. Sign also said you had to be 18 years old. Clearly there were children walking around. I'm sure if you are staying at a hotel and not entering directly in one of the gated entrances it can't be enforced. Looked like it was 50/50 on masks on Fremont street photos I saw. At night the heat won't be as much as a problem as during the day. I just think that masks in severe heat can potentially create a big health problem with overheating. I get steps in at work walking the halls in the wee hours. I take my mask off because I have trouble breathing while I am modified power walking - and that's in the air conditioning. Of course no one is around me when my mask is off.

I will be curious to see the changes from June to July. I am expecting the mask prevalence to have moved from 50% to close to 100%.

BTW-- I had heard a rumor the airlines were moving to booking full flights starting July 1, this looks to be true based on the United seat map, before adjacent seats were blacked out, now.....

Might end up moving the July trip to September to align with the new Kentucky Derby. Still have July on the books. Family wants us to join them...for a beach vacation....in Florida that weekend in July. weird thing is I’d feel more “safe” in a casino in Vegas where I can mostly keep to myself versus a huge house where 20 of us would be staying. Though if we went to Vegas while they all were to Florida I’d oddly feel selfish. So we might just sit this one out completely.

@bayoubengal dude you can’t win in July. But who knows what is going to happen in September? This sucks. Hope it works out for you in the near future.

Canada's quarantine act extended until the end of August now. The "closed to non-essential travel" border rule (which for some reason excludes air travel) extended until July 21. News media focusing non-stop on the bad numbers in the U.S. and taking them out of context to feed the fear narrative. Things are not good, but they're not as dire as some people really want to make it out to be. Plus, we've evolved in the past 4 months.

For example, the quarantine act in Canada was put in place at a time when testing capacity was insufficient, so the only safe option was to assume infected and act as if. But there is testing capacity now, so why not offer a second option of having a negative test (or two?) upon entry to the country in a shorter time period, like 4 or 5 days. Since testing right now is free, I'd be fully in favor of people using the testing option of having to pay for those tests since that's their choice.

Testing would be better anyway since the current 14 day quarantine rule does nothing to protect the general population from somebody who's asymptomatic upon return and still has the virus after 14 days of isolation and is asymptomatic when legally allowed to go back into public. People who test positive are much more likely to behave accordingly than those who don't know. I don't know why an "exit test" isn't part of the current quarantine rules - I guess that's just too much common sense.

I see the exception but we wore our masks on the Strip too. They became sweat catchers as it was over 105 degrees. I am surprised my chin didn't break out. Also, I can't comprehend why I wasted makeup when all you could see were my eyes.

Bingo has been called. It's the inconsistency of things that has really bothered me for the past 4 months.

There are many ways that responsible people can voluntarily make the changes necessary in their own behaviours to keep themselves and others reasonably safe(r), but because of the small minority of irresponsible people we all get to suffer with overly restrictive and nonsensical rules.
